It's common to mistake intelligence for the capacity to be re-educated but do not be fooled comrades.

The intelligent liberal is simply capable of weaving a more effective shield of deception around the black hole they call an ideology.

Self own: admitting publically you've never been invited to a home cooked meal by a Chinese person before.

Thinking tofu has no texture just shows you've only had the silken tofu white supermarkets sell. Thinking it has no taste means it was cooked CIA style (the 2nd worst CIA, the Culinary Institute of America).

Thinking it has no taste means it was cooked CIA style (the 2nd worst CIA, the Culinary Institute of America).

flashbacks to the chris and steph video about mapo doufu where the CIA version is just bland tofu corners with soggy overcooked veg

Is it weird that I unironically like plain tofu?

[–] Mindfury@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

tofu puffs are literally just deep fried tofu and I love them on their own
the process makes them even more absorbent when it comes to taking on flavour, especially in a soup (laksa being my reference)
they're absolutely fucking goated

I've never tried tofu puffs. I'll have to give that a go.

[–] jimmyjohnsandwich9@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't think its weird. When I am cooking myself something with tofu I end up eating like a third of the block before I even start to season it lmao

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

vegan-tofu unbothered, unseasoned, in my juice and flourishing

[–] anotherspinelessdem@lemmy.ml 12 points 1 week ago

Especially silken tofu 😋

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

Hell yeh me too I'll eat it straight from the container

[–] Diva@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Nah, often when I'm chopping up tofu I'll eat a piece or two before cooking the rest

[–] anotherspinelessdem@lemmy.ml 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I want Natalie to eat boiled beef and then look her audience in the eyes and lie to their faces by saying that has any flavor.

You know what tastes so great about steak? The fucking salted butter and spices you cooked it in! Fun fact: You can cook pretty much anything in salted fat and spices and it'll come out just fine.

Damn now I want some curry...

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If you boil something in water you are extracting the flavor into a stock. Stocks are commonly used for their flavor in cooking around the world. In France just like in China.

[–] anotherspinelessdem@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago (2 children)

That's fair. Maybe air fried beef then?

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 4 points 6 days ago

I don't have an air fryer or a steak but I've seen some people claim that air frying a frozen steak is actually the best way of preparing it.

[–] mbfalzar@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago

When I was in Japan, getting the yakiniku beef and air frying it as it was (no additional seasonings, just whatever preservative was used) then eating it with white rice was my cheap, tasty lunch

[–] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago

Bit idea: force-feeding stinky tofu to people who think tofu is flavorless.

Unrepentant crackerism tofu-cool

[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

Damn, and I have to tell myself to stop eating so much tofu and diversify my protien sources. Tofu is fucking delicious.
