Ooh ooh! I've got one! In February of 2020 Motorola is going to launch a really flashy and really expensive phone branded as the Razr with a flexible display. And I have a preproduction unit on my desk!l

It was really interesting for me watching the pandemic unfold through the lens of a product which was supposed to be launched right as Wuhan shut down for a nasty coronavirus outbreak. My understanding was that the company grossly underestimated the market demand and had already completed their initial manufacturing run, so they delayed the launch for immediately after Chinese New Year. As we all know, instead Chinese new year got extended multiple times and supply chains out of China got royally clogged up and derailed in February/March.

So I got to watch the early months of the pandemic unfold first slowing production at our facility in Wuhan in December/January then badly delaying in February/March and also watch as the news of this novel new coronavirus spreading in China became more mainstream as customers I spoke with went from incredulous about how we could possibly bungle such a high profile product launch to later being understanding that China was practically experiencing the apocalypse while silently hoping it never spreads across the ocean. Then in late March the college in town announced they would not reopen after spring break (I heard the DJs who largely stay off the mic read the notice live and seem to have the gravity of the announcement hit as they read it) and of course you lived through the rest
