The thing I love most about the US nuclear arsenal is that they spared the cities by turning the Great Plains into a sacrifice zone. So many silos are out in the middle of MAGA country on MAGA ranchers' land, staffed by MAGA missile officers and security forces, surrounded by MAGA towns where evangelical churches are the cornerstones. All in the region where fascist militias are most organised and the white supremacists go to build their utopias.

The moment the US breaks down, that's going to become the primary contradiction. Everything people feared about the Soviet arsenal after 1991 is going to be so much worse when the evangelicals start looting bases with inside help across the entire military.
