This has some "Obama wears brown suit," vibes.
I hate Trump as much as the next guy, but I think there are more substantive things to criticize than that he wore a hat.
Completely different. Obama just wore a regular, well-fitting, well-matched suit, and Republicans manufactured a scandal out of it.
Trump literally killed these six people for his own selfish, impulsive ends, shrugged it off in comments, and then, at their funeral, lacked the bare minimum courtesy to even take off his stupid, tacky baseball cap. The fact Fox News """accidentally""" aired old footage that showed him without a hat illustrates that even they know it's fucked up.
The "worse things are happening right now so let's not cover anything that would only be a month-long scandal in any sane administration" position is the one Republicans want you to take. To quote Steve Bannon: "flood the zone with shit."
lets not forget he has expressed his feelings about those fallen in combat before. Suckers and losers. You sorta got to to take it all together. Not to mention obama's suit thing was doing a press thing and not a dead soldiers in caskets thing. I mean making a comparison is as stupid as the whole brown suit thing to begin with.
It's much more important than the 'Obama wears brown suit' thing. Firstly, because it's incredibly disrespectful to dead soldiers, but secondly, and arguably more importantly, because if he wants to drive a wedge between himself and the military, we want to let him. We want them all to know - to be unable to ignore! - just how little respect he has for them.
I'm going to go a different direction than a lot of the other commenters and say this is a bigger issue not because of the hat, but because a major television network that claims to be news edited their coverage of a political event to run cover for the sitting president, because the network knew that the president's actions would be received as disrespectful by the audience of that network, who are also a large voting block of the sitting president.
To be fair, Fox News has argued in court that it's entertainment, not news.
And in doing so not only didn't show the president doing embarrassing and disrespectful things, it showed entirely different coffins. Friends and family may have seen that footage and thought it was their loved one only to learn their chosen propaganda-entertainment-news channel thought their coffins were interchangeable props.
brown suit moment and hat off while giving respect to fallen soldiers are two completely different things imo.
if I was commander of an army and my actions ended up killing my soldiers, you bet the least I would do is take my hat off in a moment like this
but yeah, this moment is minor compared to the other things he has going on right now
I think the main point was that Fox News falsified the news for him.
