Yea 996 is a fuck and isn't even legal
Gross overstatement. It was an issue affecting ~40 of the largest tech firms during peak tech boom.(2016-2019) Was ruled illegall in 2021 and further protections and enforcement are being put in place on 996 and illegal overtime in general with the 2025 Consumption Boost Plan alongside further solidifying a more comprehensive social safety net and worker protections.
i am shocked. SHOCKED.
From what I've seen in similar articles the people interviewed usually moved out from Tier-1 cities in 2020-'21, just before things like an overheated housing market and 996 started being addressed.
