Not sure if it works on Discord but another old-school trick is
Micro**slopitalicizing nothing creates an invisible break in the word
TFW when someone has an "old-school" trick which uses markdown syntax.
The feeling is old. I feel old.
Markdown is 22 years old tomorrow. Feeling old yet?
On discord, that just shows up including the asterisks. If you have nothing inside, the characters will escape.
There's also the nbsp (non-breaking space) trick, or just not using the words at all, but a euphemism. Minisludge or something.
