Sounds like a draft is being planned for the occupation of Iran, aka Vietnam v.4

Barron stands at a staggering 6’9’’ tall, meaning he may be too tall for the Army, particularly for specific roles involving restricted space like armored vehicles, tanks, or aircraft. Generally, max height limits (e.g., 80 inches/6'8" in the US Army) are enforced to ensure safety and fit within equipment.

At least a better reason that a heel spores diagnosis given by a doctor who rents an office off your father...

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 67 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I didn't know they stacked shit that high.

[–] LincolnsDogFido@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago (3 children)

It takes a special turd to not draw interest from basketball programs at 6'9" in the US. There's some teams that recruit on height alone and worry about teaching skills later. The fact that he wasn't even sniffed at by a college coach somewhere is pretty telling.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 1 points 10 hours ago

Well I heard he had autism, and his mother seems pretty overprotective. So perhaps he is not qualified d/t mental illness. I mean, we don't know if this kid is stimming out when presented with new experiences. He may not be banging his head against a wall but there may be other issues. Plus, his affinity for people like the brothers Tate (rapist advocates and human trafficking criminals) might just disqualify him d/t character and judgement. What do they say? apples fall from the tree.

For all we know, every single athletic program in the USA tried to get this one. But can you imagine even one of the Trump family doing actual work? No, thanks, coach!

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not really. You need to have athletic grace. I've got a childhood friend that tall and while he had some attempts to get him on the high school team he just obviously lacked the kinesthetic ability to play sports at even a varsity level. None of the colleges he attended even asked.

Sounds like your childhood friend had a lot in common with Barron, Bono, and Mr. Hankey. /s

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 52 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is he actually 6’9” or is he 6’9” the way his father is 6’3”? I wouldn’t be surprised if they just tell everyone he’s 6’9” to get him out of it if it comes down to a draft.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Just looking at the picture in the article, though, shows that he is either quite tall, or his security detail are dwarves.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He’s definitely very tall, but could be 6’7” and that would be under the restriction.

[–] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Probably wears lifts like his dad.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Don't even need to. I'm friends with a 6'7" guy and a 6'9" guy. It's hard to see the difference until you notice one ducks into rooms and the other doesn't.

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 1 points 22 hours ago

I'm 6'7" and my hair just brushes the top of the doorway. I've hit my head once and it's been terrifying ever since.

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 2 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Wouldn't be the first time people in power surround themselves with people to make themselves look better.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 40 points 1 day ago

The Marines don't have a max height I believe.

If you're down with crayons you're good.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Honestly with this I have doubts he's the full 6'9". Unless we have pics of him having to duck to enter rooms or something (a friend of mine is that tall, the standard American door frame is shorter than that). Anything above 6'6" is indistinguishable to most people and just registers as "holy fuck you're tall". And so yeah a "fucking hell you're tall" guy being given an extra inch or two on documents to avoid a draft is just extremely believable to me, especially when his dad is a draft dodge4 planning on starting a war.

Anyways I have no evidence but that's my little conspiracy theory

[–] Trainguyrom@reddthat.com 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah I have a relative who's similarly tall, and he was a gunner in the airforce. I have no clue how he fit into those planes but he apparently saw combat and everything.

He had a house built for him with 8 foot door frames and 10+ foot ceilings so that he wouldn't have to duck at home

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh I bet he had amazing counter heights. And yeah, once you get to these heights the social model of disability starts making their height look increasingly like a disability with how much custom and specialty stuff they need. But yeah it was really fun when we were young adults watching him drunkenly navigate buildings not made for people his size.

[–] Trainguyrom@reddthat.com 1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Oh I bet he had amazing counter heights

Come to think of it, they are a really nice height! Normal counters an average sized person has to bend a little but these you can comfortable eat at while standing. I imagine they'd be a bit too high for me to comfortable cook at being only 5'8"ish but yeah I never thought about that

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

Yeah at 5'11" my back hurts from too much time bent over cooking. From here on up you notice more and more of the world is just too small for you.

[–] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

I know you meant Heel Spurs, but now I'm imagining Trump taking off his shoes for a nap and a bunch of nasty mushrooms springing forth.

[–] lesinge@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

True re: Don the Con but...

Clerk, logistics, cook, etc.

There's a tonne of jobs he could do while being tall. While it may be a legitimate reason for not serving, it seems frivolous (especially considering the context).

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 1 points 1 day ago

205.74 cm

That is tall. He's even taller than King of Spain. US will have a magnificently tall monarch one day.
