the DSA was hosting it and the turnout was MASSIVE. Hundreds of people from all around the city. they filled up a large union hall and had people against the walls and spilling into hallways. The people are scared and pissed. democratic party didn't even come up in discussion and got booed hard in a speech. People weren't overly ambitious about the general strike, I don't think anyone thought it would end things overnight, but people want to step up to defend their communities themselves however they can, I will dare to say that it all felt very conscious.
DSA had maps of the city set up and shit, marking our positions, and people were forming neighborhood squads and signal chats for anti-ICE patrols and logistics. There were so many volunteers we had to sub-divide the neighborhoods so the teams didn't get too big. ICE hasn't even officially shown up in our city yet but people want to throw hands lol. teachers and unionists were schooling everyone on light theory, keeping order even with huge numbers. Veteran agitators from Minneapolis were sharing their lessons. This shit is happening right now comrades, and if it's happening everywhere else in this country than the regime really stirred up the hornets' nest this time.
If you're a communist it's your duty to be among the people and leading them in this. Many aren't confident, and are looking for guidance on what to do. This feels like a revolutionary moment, not THE revolutionary moment, but one that can build a greater nucleus for the next stage in the class war. Get on the grind and make your neighborhood look like
if ICE rolls through anytime soon.
