It's game over when a judge quotes the Bible...
This is becoming Christians Sharia law
I feel like the people balking at the christian tone and quotes in this order haven't actually paid a single moment of goddamn attention to anything for the last several centuries in the USA.
I think the point is, that most of the western countries have moved away from this 50 years ago. It want much different then. But others have moved on
Judge Fred Biery was appointed by Clinton and actually blocked the 2025 state law that would otherwise have required displaying the 10 Commandments in public classrooms.
I see this as him pointing out to Trump’s supporters that the actions of this administration are not only inhumane but run contrary to core Christian teachings. If the “pro-Christian” administration isn’t being very Christian then call out their hypocrisy.
No excuses. Religion doesn't belong in the courtroom and they should be disbarred, a true servant of justice can't have other masters, their true colors are now known and his dedication to justice clearly lacking.
That his lack of respect for his position is only now apparent changes nothing.
Holy shit. Get mad at people who are actually the problem not the ones helping.
A federal judge, one of our last barriers against actual, literal fascism and authoritarian takeover and our last hope for turning this around, signs an order for an objectively good thing in a predominantly christian region, with two verses referenced, an obviously defiant stand against literal evil forces trying to capture the country.
Lemmy user:
> Religion doesn’t belong in the courtroom and they should be disbarred
Fucking hell, someone tell me these jackals are AI bots or something sent by Mossad to destabilize our country. If I knew I lived next to someone who had this kind of attitude I would drop everything I'm doing to devote the rest of my days to sabotaging and annoying them in the most vexing ways possible.
This isn't just a US issue you clowns, if you're not in the US it's coming for you next. We need to celebrate wins against bad things or you're part of the bad things.
You can't build good things on a foundation of sand like religion. That is not a lasting solution and building on Christianity is what brought USA to this point.
Judges are allowed to be religious. They just can’t use religion as the basis of their judgement, which this judge did not do. They can quote scripture in the same way they can quote any other piece of literature.
Superfluous text has no place in judgments so there should be no religion in it.
This man is a regressive bigot who thinks he should be free to promote irrelevant personal beliefs within official documents.
They do not belong there, and a man who places his personal interests above justice belongs in no office. He should be disbarred.
Did… did you read any of the article?
(Not you, them)
How does including a bible verse make this judge a “regressive bigot”? You are taking the role of bigot here.
These ubermensch who think their imaginary friend has any place in goverment are always placing themselves above everyone. To promote one's religion in governance is a supreme form of bigotry and arrogance, to place oneself above all of your compatriots. Thus judge is saying that his personal opinions are sacrosant over everyone else's, law be damned.
Chill dude, he isn’t pushing some agenda by putting in a reference to a bible verse. Your own interpretation of the judge’s action aren’t based in reality. Focus on the substance of the issue at hand.
The Bible verses are irrelevant to the case. Pushing agenda is their only purpose in the document.
But all religious people fashion themselves ubermensch that can't be held to to basic standards of civilization and must be allowed force their views where they don't belong.
Shhhh
HOW DARE HE QUOTE THE BIBLE OVERTURN HIS ORDER SO WE KEEP THE KID IN A CONCENTRATION CAMP HE IS THE WORST FOR ACTIVELY POINTING OUT THE HYPOCRISY OF THE BLATHER BLATHER ONE ONE ONE ECLAMATIONE ONE ONE this is you you realize that, right?
Being angry doesn't excuse anyone to act like a religious nut. Your tolerance towards christians capturing govermental power got America to be such a regressive shithole. It is a regressive ideology that devalues human beings.
so it's your position if they're christian they shouldn't be able to hold office?
Bringing your religion to a public office should get you immediately removed from it. They can serve their other interests in their own time. This man should be removed from office as he has let his personal interests corrupt his duty to justice.
quote the part of his opinion to me that has you so worked up please.
Matthew 19:14
John 11:35
Which was right under were the judge signed, Which was not part of the judges reasoning. What formed the basis of the judge's reasoning was quoting Thomas Jefferson and the Consitution. Ultimately, the person that you are responding to is a troll and we all should ignore them.
i need more coffee. thank you for the wakeup call.
“Show me on the headless doll where the bible hurt you.”
dude hasn't even read the opinion, has just heard that it's got christianity in it and is all in a lather.
No religion belongs in the goverment. Christianity made USA the shithole it is today. It is a country born of christian regression dying of the christian regression you defend.
