This is the part where conservative men bend over, spread their unwashed butt cheeks since wiping your ass is gay apparently, and they say, "I'm ready daddy Trump."

They’ve been so fervent for gun rights over decades. This will make many people have a “wait a moment” moment.

"They'll never take MY guns away, they'll just take them from the bad people. Also, whoever they say are bad people, are bad people, even as that definition gets closer and closer to me every single day."

Yeah but I dare say most will be conflicted between their gun love and Trump love. Some of them will inevitably choose diaper boy--perhaps more than anyone expects.

Well there are full MAGA cultists or fascists, who don't really care as long as they get to own the libs, but there will be plenty of libertarians and "moderate" conservatives who for now accepted a few things, because it aligned with their views, but this will be a wake up call for them, probably even more so than if Melania or Ivanka had an abortion and Trump came out with a pro-abortion stance

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

There's an interesting question. How many people has Trump thrown a lawyer at to coerce them into an abortion after an encounter? I bet we'd be surprised by how many.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

The only number I'd be surprised by is "zero".

Only a small number of people are true diehard MAGA Trumpists. Most are on the bandwagon to see the right people get hurt or are just voting as they always have in the past. Nobody has ever rocked the boat before so nobody much flinched, but now it is unavoidable. Remember: many have come forward saying to the effect that they didn't vote for this or that thing. They wouldn't say things like that if they were not made to feel uncomfortable.

I think we've all thought certain lines were crossed previously, that the lies were so blatant on x occasion, that enough minds would be changed to finally get rid of him. Each time it amounted to nothing.

I was naive enough to thing J6 would stoke something in a lot of 'patriots' who claim to love the country above all else. Instead he won in 2024 easily...he actually gained support after trying to steal the presidency.

All of this has sapped any hope I had of his supporters abandoning him. I've come to see these are not logical people with similar ideals but different values than me. They just vote against what they fear, they vote for certain people to get hurt, and they love being followers. Such is his grip, and I'd be surprised if even the 2A being undermined by the administration can move the needle to a sufficient degree with enough people to make any difference in November.

That said I would love to be pleasantly surprised. I hope you're right, truly.
