Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37.
No criminal history. A lawful gun owner with a valid conceal carry permit.

I haven't commented on any of the content of this story until now.

Pay very close attention the the 'agent' wearing the grey coat, with his back to the camera before he turns around and walks towards it holding a gun.

He goes in hands empty, retrieves the gun from the suspects waistband, at the small of his back, and leaves before the first shot is fired.

Every shot was fired, by federal agents, at an unarmed individual. Plain murder.

Holy fuck, this is bad. What are you fucking doing, America?

[–] WalrusDragonOnABike@reddthat.com 110 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

What are you fucking doing, America?

We're being murdered?

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 38 points 11 hours ago (6 children)

Kinda weird for a country that said: 'we accept dead children at schools in the name of defending from tyranny'

[–] Poxlox@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago

Yep. We all collectively said that. The whole country did. Even the dead kids.

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 16 points 8 hours ago

The same people who kept saying that are the same ones doing the murdering now.

[–] WalrusDragonOnABike@reddthat.com 66 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Tyranny is when people have pronouns or vaccines.

[–] Dogiedog64@lemmy.world 19 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Tyranny is when you care for your fellow man and try to uplift the poor and downtrodden.

He is intentionally invading cities that don't fall in that murica stereotype. Cities that allow women the right to choose, are pro gay rights, and don't ban books. These cities would have much stricter gun laws if we could without courts shutting it down.

You'd think they'd be invading cities with the highest number of illegal immigrants.

[–] MikeTheMaker006@reddthat.com 2 points 47 minutes ago

If we had stricter gun laws then there would be nothing to stop these thugs, who are armed by the federal government and would be excempt from those laws, from exectuting whoever they want. It would be 100% worse than it already is.

[–] chunes@lemmy.world 8 points 8 hours ago

Not weird at all if you actually understood American culture and geography.

[–] TheSambassador@lemmy.world 13 points 11 hours ago

Yes, because all Americans are the same entity and statements like this are helpful and insightful... /s

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 7 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

The ones committing the murder are also Americans.

[–] BossDj@piefed.social 28 points 10 hours ago

In the same way that the Nazis were German I guess

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Collapsing. It's going to suck. But America needs to go.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 7 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Are we sure it's not already gone, and we are simply witnessing its cadaveric spasms?

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 hours ago

As doomist or accelerationist or pessimistic as many people call me, I am not sure even I am quite yet there mentally to fully admit that...

...even though you may very well be correct.

[–] FishTacoSalad@lemmy.ml 43 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Dude was getting curb stomped and head smashed in by a blunt object before the shooting...  So my question is simple...  If a gang of masked men, who outnumber you 7:1, and are literally smashing your head in with "non-lethal" crowd management devices and causing life altering injuries while you are pinned down under thread of death, why wouldn't self defence be justified?  I'm not saying the gun was his, or that he had control of it, or that he even fired it, but I am saying if ICE is doing this to people why shouldn't they defend themselves.  Black Panthers just got some recruiting.  Arm yourselves and openly carry. It's your right so use it.

[–] NannerBanner@literature.cafe 11 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Let's go further than that. If you know that you will be killed if you don't resist, and you will certainly be killed if you resist while they've already started.... maybe you shouldn't lie down and not resist, and you definitely shouldn't let them start in the first place.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

hell, maybe you need some friends to back you up and start some bullet dancing to get those thugs off your back.

[–] in4apenny@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 hours ago

Best Americans can do is stand around and bitch, unfortunately. I want to be proven otherwise, still waiting for the proof though.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 5 hours ago

Fear, helplessness, disorganization.... We're living an example of modern political battleground you can't even imagine.

[–] X@piefed.world 7 points 10 hours ago

Getting murdered. Are you somehow not paying attention?

[–] Hux@lemmy.ml 8 points 11 hours ago (1 children)
[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 8 points 10 hours ago

Seems fair, we helped them last time with their fascist problem. They help us with ours.

I bet an occupied US would even get socialized medicine

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Nothing.
They did nothing when the fat paedo was elected the first time. And they did almost nothing after the orange traitor stole top secret documents. And now they are once again doing fuck all whilst the fat paedo takes over their country like an unfunny comedy dictator.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip -1 points 5 hours ago

Thanks. What are you doing?

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 3 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Filming, holding signs, posting on social media, yelling at ICE... so nothing.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 4 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

First off, a change of venue, away from the people earning 5 and 6 figure wages, and toward those earning at least high 7-figures. These ICE clowns aren't the problem; the problem is the bastards sending them.

Let obscenely rich people know they are going to take the heat anywhere ICE shows up, and watch how quickly ICE is disbanded.

They can start here.

A 5-figure wage isn't a lot of money.

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 12 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Disruption of economy or violence are the only viable options.

[–] butwhyishischinabook@piefed.social 16 points 10 hours ago (16 children)

Today is literally a general strike across Minneapolis and neighboring areas you fucking twat.

[–] ourob@discuss.tchncs.de 20 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (3 children)

Sigh… A one day protest on a Saturday where the vast majority of participants either already had the day off or requested it from their employer is in no way a strike. It’s a large protest and an important event, but it’s just not a strike.

It’s like the actual concept of a strike is being erased from the public consciousness. Strikes don’t have a fixed duration, they have a list of demands, and the strike goes on until those demands are met or the strikers capitulate.

A bunch of Minnesotans taking a day off work to protest sends a strong message and mildly inconveniences businesses.

A bunch of Minnesotans saying “we’re not going back to work until ICE is out of our state” is what an actual general strike would look like. It would be hugely powerful if strikers held fast, but it would also be incredibly hard to organize and pull off, because you’re basically asking large numbers of people to be willing to get fired.

I’m not trying to downplay what’s going on in Minnesota - it’s good and important, but it saddens me to see people calling this a general strike. A general strike is the ultimate weapon of the working class. Calling a mass protest a general strike feels like saying “this is the best we can do,” and it absolutely is not.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 4 points 6 hours ago

America has successfully villified unions for decades, it would not surprise me one bit if they have also systematically erased any education about actual strikes as part of the already well-documented gutting of general education and overall indoctrination the American right has performed on the population.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 2 points 7 hours ago

They would also need support from other states. A general strike is adhered to by everyone.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 4 points 7 hours ago

Over half the country is paralyzed by frigid temps and storms this weekend. It is not the statement you are expecting. A general No-BUY that lasts for months may help but honestly, there are many that just don't have that discipline. Even last year, during winter, we had lackluster engagement. I mean I am over 60 and can't risk falling on icy sidewalks. First off, let's see what we can do to protect the integrity of homes (barred windows, double deadbolt locks on all egresses) Even boarding up windows with wood/locked shutters) in order to prevent home invasions. Locked fences. You know.. make those MFers work for it. We can be "Meals on Wheels" to deliver nutrition. Provide families with loyal fierce pets that will alert them to anyone crossing their property. Distribute gas masks, goggles. Put up cameras that are not controlled by some tech collaborator. Esp. cameras that keep the footage inside.

[–] Butterphinger@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago

Piss in the wind, they know you all have to work and the rest of the country is still in nothing ever happens omg did you see Fallout last night?! mode.

I agree a prolonged and universal strike is needed. Have you taken steps to help organize locally where you are? If not I'm very happy to provide you resources and if possible put you in contact with organizers local to your area.

I don't think concerted violence here in America will do anything except to empower the executive branch to invoke the insurrection act and declare marshall law.

However targeted assinations in a minecraft server have been proven very effective in a more historical context.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 2 points 7 hours ago

I see your point. It seems like when you have gangs of ICE menacing a lone citizen like cockroaches on a smear of bacon grease... some kind of pest control should be dispatched.> Alex Jeffrey Pretti
