If this forecast holds, the infrastructure damage from this storm is going to be catastrophic, potentially worse than a category 5 hurricane. People will be without power for weeks or potentially months and the roads will be completely impassable with downed trees and power lines.

Any comrades in these areas, please do your best to stay safe and warm. Stock up on some non-perishable food if you still have time.

Cherry on the poopy weather cake, the ranges for the really bad "hot" weather and really bad "cold" weather are both moving in opposite directions.

You winterize your house as best you can for the occasional (meaning, once every few years) blizzard... which is a fucking thing now... and your house becomes even more of an oven in the summer. And if you're broke when the bad weather is predicted... I got lucky that I've been working a full time job for the last 6 months now. Still got no savings but I can juggle credit cards a bit easier when shit like this happens.

On another note, at least locally, meteorologists have been talking about the storm for about a week+ now and while shit was super busy at the grocery store where I work, everybody has been way more polite than they usually are while stockers are racing around stuffing the shelves as full as possible with whatever they can pull off the delivered pallets today.

In all the hustle and bustle, I managed to get some customers out the door without having to pay for a few of their things.
