If this forecast holds, the infrastructure damage from this storm is going to be catastrophic, potentially worse than a category 5 hurricane. People will be without power for weeks or potentially months and the roads will be completely impassable with downed trees and power lines.

Any comrades in these areas, please do your best to stay safe and warm. Stock up on some non-perishable food if you still have time.

This won't destroy buildings (maybe some that already have structural issues or second-hand through pipes bursting) but it will completely wreck power lines and roads. A quarter inch of ice can bring down enough trees to cause issues for a week or more, I can't even imagine what an inch of ice will do, especially in a part of the country that has zero resources to handle it.

Yeah my bad. I get prickly on hurricane comparisons. It'll be significant nonetheless and an inch of ice is indeed pretty terrible
