Wait for real?! Good thing I didn’t bother to watch 3 yet, after the end of 2 was just setting up yet another rematch.

Yep. Many parts of 3 were a literal repeat of 2, including whale hunting, a big showdown at the water village, and Quarritch AGAIN gets away at the end.
