To any Lemmy.ml people here: do you think my being banned from Lemmy.ml is a sign that I should read theory a bit more? I support the idea of socialism, and I'm NOT against AES countries as well.

Yes you need to read theory and stop doubling down on zionism and weird niche bullshit like de Leonism

I'm NOT that good at studying socialist theory, but Cowbee told me about this thing where you take each paragraph and then you boil it down into simple terms (or in your own words). So far that method is pretty good and interesting, and I'm just wondering if you have anything from RedSails that I can study with that method.

Oh and this is my 200th comment on DBZer0

Listening to cowbee is a good start, do that more.

My very favorite piece on redsails is Western Marxism, the Fetish for Defeat, and Christian Culture

If I read that article when I first became radicalized I would have saved me years of wasted effort. I cannot emphasize how valuable that essay is.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I had already understood how the KKKri$$tian martyrdom complex manifested in the western reactionary, but that essay helped me understand how it manifests in the western leftist, too. It's really a fantastic piece.

Yeah, same here. I'm a pretty staunch atheist and I live in a country that is quite atheist but this tendency still manifests in this reflexive support for the underdog, no matter who it is. (Reflexive as in "by reflex" here.)

If ISIS didn't have a bad name, plenty of people here would support them just because they're plucky upstarts fighting against the ruling powers of West Asia. Case in point is the exact thing happened with the Azov battalion. Yikes.

Didn't have my ear to the ground on that one but I can only imagine that the average person where I live would only know what the mainstream media fed them - Assad is a dictator, the moderate rebels are freedom fighters, maybe something about Captagon or barrel bombs or the OPCW report. So I imagine they would have been supported by the average Joe here.

The average person here wouldn't even recognize the name

The best way to fight this reactionary doom and gloom is through the power of optimism and luck.

I really need to read this one, Jones Manoel is goated

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Do you have anything on RedSails that's pretty short enough (at least 5-10 minutes worth of reading)?

[–] stink@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 3 months ago

I just read the one they linked, took about 10 minutes

[–] RondoRevolution@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago (2 children)

There's also good marxist content creators you can follow that can help since they try to explain things easily.

I can recommend The Deprogram boys (Second Thought, Hakim, Yugopnik, all on youtube), Lady Izdihar (Instagram and TikTok) and revolutionaryth0t (youtube). I also heard good things about Bes D. Marx, but I haven't watched their channel on youtube yet.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Bes D. Marx has some good stuff on the actual history of the Zionist entity

[–] RondoRevolution@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Good to know, I'll take a look when I can

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

What about content creators who do shorter content (NOT YouTube shorts) like "socialism for people in a hurry"?

[–] RondoRevolution@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

You mean like a quick video going over the basics? You can find that on Second Thought's channel, he has at least two videos that are exactly like that, but don't expect it to be more than surface level stuff.

If you mean more bite sized stuff, I think Lady Izdihar is great for that.

But do take a look into every recommendation I made, they are all great and you can learn a lot by watching them.

I'm a bit worried that I might not process what I've learned about socialism after studying, thus NOT letting me find the right words when explaining the pitfalls of capitalism and the bourgeois caste system that enslaved us. Can doing improv comedy help me find those words when talking about socialism, and what method of studying do you use?
