“It's really more a marketing decision by Amazon MGM, but the idea was no one's going to walk into that theater and not know about Rocky,” Weir said. “This is not a Darth Vader is Luke's father kind of situation. This is a core, central element of the plot that everybody's going to be talking about and that everybody who's read the book already knows about.”Personally, I get a tone of Amazon MGM did more telling than discussing with him. On top of that I do think the reveal is on par with Vader, or Gandalf, because it does change the rest of the story from that point onward.
But don't you think they need something to market it? Just putting Ryan Gosling in a ship probably won't pull any numbers like we already saw before. I loved the book, so idc about the spoilers that much. I just want to enjoy it with my eyes considering the cast and crew lineup looking insane.
The whole solar system destroying weird thing seems pretty interesting and got me to read the book.
