I'm a total noob when it comes to 3D printing and am frankly bewildered by all the options for machines. I don't want to buy a printer and find out it won't smoothly handle ASA. In fact my first print will almost certainly be a custom mount so that I can put my Tempest PWS on a 5"x5" vinyl fence post.

I'd like to keep it under $800 but if I will spend more to get a better machine and a better experience if I need to.

If I were to buy another printer, the Snapmaker U1 is at the very top by a huge margin.

But I wouldn't recommend it for ASA. Out of the box it is an open air printer without active chamber heating.

Yeah. But with any hood (aka the famous ikea hood) it seems to ve already working reasonably good.

In theory the P1S is also not good for ASA due to it's lack of chamber heating.

In reality I print 50% of my prints with ASA and besides some preheating via plate it is a walk in the park. (Which by now is automated via Home Assistant for me).

And of course there are always external heaters available. A friend has his P1S in a basement that has 5° all year round. A 30€ heater did it. Simply chucked into a corner and done.

But yeah. Out of the box it is an issue, yeah. I will report back.
