Really impressed with the way they keep building this out.

wow, cool! I just watched episode 4 last night, so this is timely!

There's the FEP repository already, and the AP Working Group at W3C has been re-chartered, so things are moving.

absolutely agreed. It is all connected with Bandwagon (which federates) and Mirlo etc.

BTW when The Indie Beat Radio came along, I made a GNOME extension for that. I should add a link to TIB TV to the extension, but I haven't gotten around to that yet.

... zathura seems interesting, it has support for plugins for different document types, but it seemed to open a PDF in secondary window (albeit on a desktop), whereas tdf allowed me to access the PDF inline in ghostty, which was great.

TIL about tdf. Thanks! it really does seem fast.

(OK, now I see the issue you're describing in the other comment)

As you can see, there are a lot of issues that we need to triage and work through. We do our best to be clear about what is being worked on, and what is not - we've also posted a revised roadmap for some better visibility on where we are spending resources. I take your point, however - we need to improve here. Thanks.

Curious how you would rework the process?

We are excited to share a significant milestone for Mastodon.

Earlier this year, we announced a major restructuring, and today marks a pivotal moment. Our Founder, Eugen Rochko, is stepping down from his position as CEO. In his latest blog post (see comments), he reflects on the incredible journey of building and growing Mastodon. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and the community he has fostered, and we are pleased that he will remain with us in an advisory role.

As we look ahead, we are proud to introduce our new leadership team, led by Executive Director Felix Hlatky (our former CFO). This transition represents a crucial step toward community governance and collaborative decision-making, emphasising our commitment to building safe and resilient social spaces.

Now more than ever, we need to work together to build safe and resilient social spaces. We must build information networks that are resistant to billionaire control and surveillance. And it will take all of us working together to do that.

Read more about this news and organisational updates in the post.

Mastodon 4.4 (blog.joinmastodon.org)
submitted 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) by andypiper@lemmy.world to c/mastodon@lemmy.world

We’re excited to announce that Mastodon 4.4 is now generally available as an upgrade for all Mastodon servers. The update brings improvements to profiles, navigation, list management, media controls, server moderation notes, and more.

Mastodon 4.4 also contains the first part of our Quote Post implementation - display of incoming Quote Posts. Full support (including creation) will be part of the next version: Mastodon 4.5, coming later this year. We’re already hard at work on the next set of updates for that release.

We hope you’ll enjoy the enhancements in Mastodon 4.4, and we’re grateful for your support and feedback.

I posted a (made later) recording of my talk from the Social Web After Hours event at FOSDEM 2025, for those unable to attend.
