Funny enough, this was Henry George’s argument.

Landlords sit on their ass and do absolutely nothing but benefit from both labor and capital’s activities making land values go up. Landlording literally punishes success so he proposed a land value tax.

Of course, Karl Marx even addressed this as capitalist reformism but also admitted this would certainly be an improvement.

Add it to the absolutely MASSIVE pile of concessions we would gladly have and which would likely disperse most of the drive towards actual socialism (or radicalization that leads people to see its necessity) but which we'll never, ever get, because the bourgeoisie are such radical ideological extremists that they can brook no compromise
