For those who aren't familiar with the term, it means believing something that probably shouldn't be believed, or being influenced to believe something that's not necessarily in your best interests.

None of that is socialism but alright I guess every country in the world is socialist so you've got what you want.

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What’s the purpose of social security? A state run program to redistribute money from the working to the non working? A social safety net to protect vulnerable citizens.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So what is the difference between that and communism?

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Socialism is when we say grandma shouldn’t die of poverty; communism is when we say eat the rich because grand ma died of starvations. Socialism can exist under a capitalist economy while communism cannot. Hope this helps, try reading a book sometime. Or using google maybe idk.

Idk what’s the difference between Donald trump taking 10% of intel randomly and communism lol. Is seizing the means of production on behalf of the state a capitalism?

Can you describe capitalism for me before I describe communism?

Communism is a classless society imagined by Karl Marx and Circle jerked over for over a century by nerds and dictators who killed nerds alike. It’s also a strawman for people who don’t understand communism depending on who you ask. Now can you explain capitalism to me? I can understand being ignorant of communism, but I can’t understand being ignorant of the system that you live under, so could you please describe the basic economic system that you prescribed to?

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No I'm genuinely asking for your answer on this because none of your definitions line up or make sense. You realised that your definition of socialism is so wide reaching that it covers communism as well as capitalism.

Trump seizing 10% of Intel

That is a communist move. Trump is closer to a communist dictator than he to a democratic liberal leader.

Definition of capitalism. An economic system where most of the capital is owned privately and distributed through markets.

I apologize. I thought you were trolling or worse. Yea I generally think socialism is any government run program that redistributes resources for social goals. Like educating children and providing care for the infirm.

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Sure it is. Are you using a different definition of socialism? Who owns the schools?? Who owns the roads?
