For fuck's sake, I love Rhea Seehorn and was looking forward to watching this after the first season finished airing. Is it actually blatantly anti-communist?

The main character who is the source of the Stalin line is shown over and over to be a wrong, rude, self centered asshole. She is the ur-USian. I think people are jumping to conclusions about the show without really paying attention to it.

I love this website for its politics but I wouldn't take the TV and movie takes too seriously.

in my defense i am explicitly putting out a take without watching the show, if you trust the take that's not on me

Liking popular media is liberalism. The worst kind of liberalism, in fact.

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 3 points 6 days ago

Weird cuz I'm the only non liberal here.

Problem is, I'm probably going to go into it and think the same things.

No, not particularly. It's not not anticommunist though, and it plays with those tropes enough that casual viewers will walk away with that impression, or not be presented with enough to disabuse it.

The premise is anti communist in a similar vein to "invasion of the body snatchers"

The lead character has a line where she says she is "the worst mass murderer since Stalin"

She is basically the ultra liberal anti hero

It's still enjoyable though, I would just expect the brain worms going in

The summary describes her as "the most miserable person in the world"

I dont think she's supposed to be liked or listened to.

maybe she's working on several levels of irony like one of us might say those words after fumigating some termites.
