Out of curiosity I went and looked and the person was saying there is no meaningful difference when an anti-assad activist works for over a decade to destabilize Syria's government, since Syria ends up being controlled by ISIS that person has effectively supported ISIS. Especially since she hasn't been doing any activism against the ISIS leadership of Syria who are massacring minorities, it really shows that her work is done now they ISIS is in charge and she is okay with that.

Personally I had no idea about her ties to that and I'm glad that person exposed it

I see the logic in saying her actions helped ISIS in the long run, and said actions should be condemned, but to say she is ISIS is hyperbolic, using the same logic you could say that the Kurds and people like ypg-brace are ISIS because despite directly fighting them, because they were also against Assad and also contributed to the downfall of his government

its the same thought pattern that leads to any critic of NATO and the Ukrainian far-right being labelled Ruzzian Putin-loving Vatnik bots

Saying 'the democratic 'socialist' Muslim mayor of New York's wife is ISIS' in this climate is a ridiculous position for a leftist to take, imo specificity and accurate descriptors are important

If you spent a decade trying to "free Syria" from Assad and then stopped trying to "free Syria," once ISIS takes over, you have certainly chosen a side

Calling one of the highest profile Muslim women in the US 'ISIS' is also certainly a choice

Call her a gusano, a stooge, a US asset for regime change, a supporter of violence and massacres against Syrian people, but don't call her ISIS, she only actively worked to destabilize the government ISIS overthrew but she didn't actively join ISIS

Also stopped trying to destabilize the government once ISIS controlled it. Hard to see how this isn't supporting ISIS. It's more or less everything you can do as an American short of actually joining ISIS.

I agree that she's not literally ISIS, but this is a communist forum and not reddit, no one is calling her ISIS for islamophobic reasons.

Together they have backed US regime change operations against Syria, Cuba and Venezuela, they are well on their way to being the best representative of US leftists anyone could have hoped for. All they need to do is condemn the Uighur genocide and call for the authoritarian DPRK government to be overthrown. US leftists certainly can't allow their representation of socialism to be tarnished by pointing out their support for US regime change abroad
