Why would vertical integration not be worth preserving in a state monopoly?
It leads to a lot of unnecessary redundancy. Say you fold Department X from Corporation L into Agency B during collectivization, and then later collectivize Corporation M that has a department that does pretty much the same thing as Department. Unless there’s something particularly specialized about the nature if that department within the context of Corporation M, it’s more efficient to just roll it into Agency B as well.
Sure, but wouldn't doing that tend to increase rather than decrease the overall amount of vertical integration within Agency B?
Bugger, I just realized I got it backwards and should’ve been using “horizontal integration” this whole time
Okay, but that would also increase by folding multiple competing companies into the same state agency
