Is not subjecting your fellow bus passengers to excessive noise not an act of kindness? You seem to be analyzing this whole thing from one perspective to the total neglect of the other. I'd argue being deprived of music for a bit is far less worse of a fate than being subjected to over-stimulation, and you don't even need to be deprived of music by simply getting some earbuds or headphones, and then everyone is happy!

Everyone always falls on the "you won't engage with my bad faith screed and that means you know you're wrong." Which is weird. I'm objectively correct that it is good and social to be nice to other people and literally nobody will ever change my mind on that. I just assume they had a bad day and can't afford headphones or they broke or whatever. I dunno. When someone goes something annoying around me I just assume they need to do that annoying thing to regulate and help themselves deal with this absolutely hellish world we live in.

Maybe I'm having a bad day and don't want to have to listen to someone blaring music on their phone on my commute home? Maybe that person should have to deal with the annoyance of not listening to music for a bit, or just investing in some headphones? Perfect example of you looking at this from one perspective an not the other.
