Not really. Toads have been open to interpretation since the beginning, and Miyamoto had no particular intention of gender for them either.
In my headcanon, toads are agender, except for Toadette, who transitioned to female.
There's a game theory about the gender of toads. It's complicated.

I think they're referring to the trailer as a whole, which features somone named Rosalina (who looks like Peach's cousin or something, I dunno the fuckin lore of this shit) fighting Bowser Jr. Its stupid in any case, but its not about the picture.
