I fucking hate this shit.

Liberal tone policing is one of many forms of classism that ultimately functions to ensure the only people with voices are those who conform to speaking in a specific manner of speaking determined by the bourgeois who control the platform. It is essentially controlling tone to shut out people who speak differently to the middle income suburban crowd of people with fairly decent upbringings.

It shuts out everyone who might have a rougher background, internationally it shuts out everyone that comes from cultures where rougher backgrounds are more accepted socially, it shuts down speech from cultures where what we call "bants" in the UK is just socially acceptable and expected.

I grew up in squats. I didn't "speak right" for a long time. I learned to speak in the sniff your own farts style that online liberals expect and I switch between tones based on audience where I feel I'm forced to. Not everyone can do this and a huge portion of the working class who don't speak right but have perfectly valid (and sometimes good) opinions are shut out just because some fucking liberal can't take the fact that they pepper the things the write with swearsies and fruitful imagery.

It's classist and I fucking hate it. I will always loudly oppose tone policing. I do not give a fuck if someone is rude while they say correct things, they should not be shut out. Doing so is bourgeois moralism.

Anyone celebrating this just because it's Empanada is wrong.

Correct fuckin take

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 47 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's also just something that results in shitheads baiting anger and then getting the other guy banned

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago

I've lost so many accounts on so many platforms like that

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

This is a great take. Badempanada should be banned for being a bigot, not scolded for his tone.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

Yes exactly. Get people on actually important shit, not their tone. Tone does not make someone incorrect, and almost everyone will have a bad tone once in a while just because mood is a thing.

Agree on not excluding people for how they use language, 100%.

Seeing someone present themselves as "Agent of Chaos and Hate" on a platform that is meant to be the opposite, is a good reason to do something about them. There are other platforms like 4chan for people like that.

That's literally just fruity language knowing full well liberals will fucking hate him because he disagrees with them at a spiritual level on almost every single topic.

The dude doesn't filter himself for you and leans into the fact he knows you'll hate him anyway. You're just justifying your classism and finding your own way to shut down takes that you personally disagree with by saying "he's rude about them". You're doing exactly what I just fucking said is classism.

I don't know what else to say. You're a classist. A stinky middle income liberal that demands people speak a certain way or be excluded from the space. If you've ever wondered why the working class turns away from liberals it's because they can feel the classism permeating every conversation you have with them, although most of the time they'll communicate it as "elitism". It's exactly the kind of offputting shit from the libs that the far right has seized upon and pandered to successfully by the likes of Farage and so on. They lean into it, they tell the working class "yes you're right about those stuck up elitist liberals" and then they become best buds over hatred for the way you judge them and behave towards them from the high castles of liberal moralism you've created to shut them out.

BlueSky actively removes accounts made by trans comrades and people in general suffering under imperialism. Platform that is meant to be the opposite of chaos and hate, my ass.

"Chaos and hate? How uncouth and republican, we're more into order and contempt"maybe-later-honey

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 19 points 2 weeks ago

negative peace, which is the absence of strife

[–] RustyVenture@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Bluesky is a platform that’s meant to be the opposite of chaos and hate? I do suppose the genocide denial and warmongering isn’t considered chaotic or hateful because it’s the default mode for liberals, but no hate? lol. lmao even.

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 30 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Its the old "white moderate, who is more devoted to 'order' than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice" again.

(I'm sure this is a familiar text to Hexbear readers, but for those visiting, this is quoted from MLK's Letter From Birmingham Jail

[–] Angelevo@feddit.nl 2 points 2 weeks ago

That is the gist of what I got from its presentation when it was new. I hardly nor visit most social media, my perspective may be dated and/or flawed.

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

No. The problem isn't that he calls himself an "agent of chaos and hate", it's that he's a fucking bigot. I don't care that he's rude, that's just liberal brainworms. I care that he's a massive piece of shit bigot. And yeah, being a bigot is also "rude" but I hope you appreciate that that's not what's wrong with bigotry.

on a platform that is meant to be the opposite

Bluesky is a liberal hive. There is no shortage of hate, they just dress it up.
