"Neurodiverse = wrong/broken/evil" is a brainworm that I wish would die. Sucks that it probably never will.

The worlds most evil people are able and "normal" for lack of a better word anyway.

Specifically, narsicism, which has become a cath-all word for "person I don't like".

This one is really amazing, because for a very long time "narcissist" was used casually by people who probably didn't know it was a clinical disorder. Then, r*dditors specifically made sure everyone knew it was a clinical term and now everyone is a psychologist whenever someone does something bad in an interpersonal relationship / disagrees with them online.

Mainstreaming of psychology language has a lot of elements to it and they're all bad. Psychologists are supposed to be experts who know their field and make mental health determinations based on large amounts of evidence, not a random person who watched a YouTube video and read an AITA post.

A lot of "legitimate" psychologists are about as qualified as a random person who watched a youtube video

Redditisms about that stuff is the worst. "don't worry because worrying about being a narcissist means you aren't one" yeah man I love pathologizing clinical disorders into simple good bad binaries, go die in a bog.

There's a whole ass cottage industry of people making videos explaining how to survive narcissists. It's ridiculous. Is someone abusing you? The abuser must be a narcissist! Do they not fit the normal symptoms of NPD? Then they're clearly a covert narcissist!

[–] moss_icon@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

Imagine the absolute backlash if people started saying “bipolar abuse” or “autistic abuse.”

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Funny too because Reddit has a NPD support community, and when you read their experiences with NPD it sounds misserable.

Jesus Christ that top comment and then getting met with "wow I haven't met such a self aware narcissist before"... Bleak.

Whenever I get sick of this site I delete my account, touch grass and then inevitably I end up back online at some point. First stop is usually reddit, whichll remind me why I like hexbear
