Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?
-
Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.
-
This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.
-
Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.
-
No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.
-
Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.
FAQ
I don't look XYZ and/or sometimes I can pass as white so I don't know if I can post here. Can I?
-
This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.
-
Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.
What can I post?

I'm trying to figure this out...... If this is what fascism is to white folks wtf is what poc and the imperial periphery have been going through called?
something that happened 400 years ago and is part of the past
Poc are getting the brunt of the fascism in America, not white people. This is just white centricism
The only way I have been able to make sense of white people's double standards when it comes to atrocities our governments commit domestically vs abroad is to conclude that the very root of their problem is many of them are fundamentally incapable of seeing nonwhite people as human beings.

Normal person when watching videos of people crying over the corpses of their family who was just murdered by a bomb because America decided to do foreignpolicy: I feel this pain like that were my aunt, and I hate the murderers on their behalf with the intensity I would hate someone who murdered my own family member.White person watching videos of people crying over their murdered family members' corpses: Ok we gotta plug this into a flow chart to decide whether we have empathy or not. What color are the victims? What religion are the victims? Who killed them? What color and religion are the people who killed them? Which political party is currently in charge and tentatively culpable? Can we come up with an excuse for why this was just an unfortunate accident and keep doing what we're doing?
I can say this confidently because I have so frequently seen white people glazing politicians with the blood of millions on their hands. If they actually cared about other people, they would feel the hatred I feel anytime I see a "wholesome" picture of a smiling Bush, or a "wholesome" meme about who charming and folksy and unthreatening Biden is. If they actually cared, they would view this glazing as as distasteful and morally repugnant as if someone were sharing memes about how wholesome Hitler and Goebbels were.
This is facts. Or them having to give bush credit because of their distaste of trump. Act like Obamas only flaw was a tan suit. L The way they downplay these characters I'm telling you they will do the samw with trump mark my words. Especially as their politicians become more unhinged. Go to r/worldnews r/europe on any topic on muslims, trans hell africans..... Thats how a lot of those neolibs feel.
Exactly. They were already gearing up to do it for Trump when he had General Qassem Soleimani assassinated, saying he was finally "presidential". They will do it with Trump.
Fucking Ezra Klein was out praising Charlie Kirk. There is no fascist too monstrous for these liberals to cozy up to, because at the end of the day they're all on the same western chauvinist white supremacist team.
For real. If trump succeeded in Iran causing untold misery for tens of millions there they would praise him on that. Even if he did that to mexico with the whole cartel angle how long till they whitewash that too?
