Poll after poll for decades consistently shows there's around 20-30% of Americans that "just gone." Full blown "would support literal gas chambers" if that option was on the table. They reflexively just answer whatever the most insane answer is to any question. "Fluoride in the water?" "No. And also, put more lead in the black kids' water!" "Vaccines?" "Fuck no! Just shoot anyone who gets sick. Not the whites ones." "Abortion?" "No. In fact we need forced marriages and forced impregnations of white women by white men."
You'll never see that represented in any media though. That like 70-80% of the country is pro abortion rights, pro healthcare for all, against wars including any sort of military actions at all, etc. If things were represented closer to reality you'd probably even see some of that 20-30% realize their opinions are legitimately insane and maybe shift away from some of it.
