Italians are fascists.
They're violently oppressive authoritarians.
Little overly general there.
Yeah, should have said "the Italian government and cops are a bunch of fascists". That would have been accurate.
Guess what? The electorate allows it. Encourages it, even.
Yeah, lots of gaslighting and demagoguery went into it, just like with Mussolini a hundred ears ago and Trump in 16. People didn't just decide in a vacuum that fascism is the way to go.
The government is fascist, the electorate is just dumb. Doesn’t help that we have nearly 40% abstention rate, last election the people who didn’t vote were more than the votes for the winning coalition.
