I use OSM and Organic Maps, but I have difficulty searching by address or business. I end up using my computer, finding the location, matching it to the map in the app, and favoriting it. Am I doing this the dumb way? Is there an alternative FOSS navigation app which has this functionality?

You probably live in a deep village... I always use a navigator, even for short distances, maps show where the speed limit cameras are, where the police are now (by 80%) because users set where they are now... Interchanges, highways, etc. But in general, of course, cameras (their number grows like mushrooms after rain)Now you can't go anywhere without navigation.

You probably live in a deep village

A "deep" village? What does that mean?

There are over 130,000 people in my city, growing by about 1,000 every year. So not a huge city but not a village. ๐Ÿ˜„ Takes probably 30 minutes to drive across town with negligible traffic? Anyway...

Why do you need to know where speed limit cameras and police are at all times? Sounds to me like you prrrooobably shouldn't have a driver's license to begin with? Or you live in a place where police are a danger to society rather than protection. I'm willing to guess which side of the Atlantic but I'll refrain.

I can definitely travel without navigation lol. Even when visiting a bigger city with maybe half a million people. As long as I know where I'm going, it's fine. ๐Ÿ‘

Camera, sometimes you can get distracted and exceed the speed limit by 1-2 km, so what? The camera will record a fine for you... So, my careful opponent, who always and everywhere does not violate traffic rules, anything can happen in life, I, for example, would not be sure that anything can happen to me without my direct intent, I am not as self-confident as you.

Your cameras give you a fine if you exceed by even 1 km/h? That's insane. In my country it's about 6 km/h or so above the limit where you get a fine. Every car is different so the speedometer might not show the exact speed right on the needle, and they know that speeds can vary slightly. You could also be right in the middle of slowing down, which won't be noticeable in the instant of the measurement, so they add this margin of error of about 6 km/h.

I guess it's harder too if you don't have automatic speed control on the car. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ If the cameras and fines are this sensitive and you only have manual speed control (gas and break), and new cameras keep popping up all the time, I can definitely understand that you would want alerts of when there are speed cameras.

My car alerts me automatically so that's also am advantage I guess.

In fact, in our country, the threshold for speeding is 20 km per hour.... Accordingly, where there is a 40 limit sign, the maximum I can drive is 60 km per hour, 61 is already a fine, so you probably still have madness... with yours no more than 6

๐Ÿ˜‚ Then you definitely don't need to know where the cameras are. You are a very bad driver if you are going TWENTY km/h (or more?!) over the limit getting "distracted", and it happens so often you need to constantly need to know where the cameras are. What country is this?! Do you even need to take a test to get your license in this country?

I'm sorry to sound rude but +20 km/h and you still need help. ๐Ÿ˜† Nah...
