When you're running 150 mods for your Rimworld medieval anime play through you need that mod manager.
Rimpy is the best thing ever. I still remember trying to unfuck a 100 mod list from the ingame mod manager and spending hours reading through steam comments and unplugging specific mods and testing ad nauseam.
I'm running about 500 mods now and it runs like a dream.
Rimworld is generally pretty mod friendly but yeah when you're getting into hundreds of mods it's nice to have something that flags dependencies. I remember before the long boot time was fixed having to wait 20-30 minutes for it to start just to test if everything was working properly.
