I'd rather those were opt-in anyway. Just have a box you can tick for "cultural awareness events" or something.

Some like to keep their calendars clean, which should be their choice. There is already a setting for showing national holidays, they could just expand that

Sure, but sounds like you wanted differentiated toggles for national holidays versus these needed observances? If you're saying a single toggle for all, I agree. I don't think the observances should be othered though.

but I actually never saw any of those in the french holidays calendars

Up to the company in America, no guarantee of not having to work just because some observe a certain day. Especially for blue collar workers. The ultimate irony here is most will work on labor day.
