Harris dropped it to appeal to Republicans lol. Same with Harris saying that immigrants are bringing drugs and crime during the presidential debate. She was basically quoting Trump's infamous 2016 speech on immigrants that ignited his presidential run during the debate to try own Trump. Absolutely bizzare behaviour.
the most coherent thing i've heard (somewhere on here but i don't recall who) is that democrats treat every lead in polls as an excuse to pivot right, they want to win as narrowly as possible to govern as ineffectually or right-wing as practicable, while holding their own electorate hostage.
Libs are the 'take me hostage daddy' sort though; they hardly seem fazed being pulled rightward. At this rate, the DNC may just research how to stop Donald's aging so they can ride this gravy train as far right as it'll go.
I believe the kink term for this is "topping from the bottom" which is generally considered toxic behavior as it usually is not something that was negotiated or agreed upon
