Do you want to speak out against Marcellus' execution before it actually occurs?
Do you think you might be able leverage your political influence to do something to stop it?

No? Okay, well maybe just grandstand and exploit his murder so you can gain clout instead.

Liberals are opposed to every war except the current one, they are opposed to every execution except the pending one

Real crying at the child migrant detention center fence vibes

[-] Barabas@hexbear.net 47 points 5 days ago

Has she even commented on them since Biden got elected?

[-] Thordros@hexbear.net 31 points 5 days ago

Babies in prison cages ceased to exist on January 20, 2021. We now have "migrant holding and processing facilities", which are cool and good.

[-] anarcho_blinkenist@hexbear.net 5 points 4 days ago

hey some of them are no longer state-run concentration camps, because Biden privatized them for profit

What I am saying, explicitly, is that willem-van-spronsen would make a better congresswoman than AyyyyyOC-big

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 19 points 5 days ago

I'm surprised we don't have an emoji of that now.

We have this which basically covers it: liberalism

[-] anarcho_blinkenist@hexbear.net 5 points 4 days ago

I still dissociate a bit every time I think of that. positively surreal. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when they did that and I still can't believe they did that shit. not only the appropriation of cloth from a random African country (the fuck does Ghana have to do with any of this?!) but then kneeling for the exact 8mins 46 seconds that the pigs (that they fund and arm) did on George Floyd's neck, literally acting out the extended murder of a black man while wearing appropriated clothing from a random African country, during a national (and international) uprising against racist police violence; just insane. like what the fuck. The Onion couldn't write this shit. The democratic party is where conscience, foresight, and political acumen all go to die

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago

But I want the Charmeleon version of that lol

[-] Dolores@hexbear.net 61 points 5 days ago

hey so does that candidate you're boosting have that in their platform or nah?

Harris dropped it to appeal to Republicans lol. Same with Harris saying that immigrants are bringing drugs and crime during the presidential debate. She was basically quoting Trump's infamous 2016 speech on immigrants that ignited his presidential run during the debate to try own Trump. Absolutely bizzare behaviour.

Absolutely bizzare behaviour

the most coherent thing i've heard (somewhere on here but i don't recall who) is that democrats treat every lead in polls as an excuse to pivot right, they want to win as narrowly as possible to govern as ineffectually or right-wing as practicable, while holding their own electorate hostage.

[-] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 27 points 5 days ago

hostage

Libs are the 'take me hostage daddy' sort though; they hardly seem fazed being pulled rightward. At this rate, the DNC may just research how to stop Donald's aging so they can ride this gravy train as far right as it'll go.

[-] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 20 points 5 days ago

I believe the kink term for this is "topping from the bottom" which is generally considered toxic behavior as it usually is not something that was negotiated or agreed upon

[-] Angel@hexbear.net 63 points 5 days ago

Not only late, but what an incredibly fucking dry way to comment on it too.

[-] 12022081631@hexbear.net 24 points 5 days ago

It's 100% about plausible deniability

Some PR goon has concocted this strategy for her to remain in the progressive zeitgeist, to feel like she's on the leading edge, but in such a way that there's this buffer of detachment so that she is resistant to a lot of criticisms such this post.

If she's just saying "thing bad" in general terms then nobody is pushed to ask what the fuck she's doing to address it and for a lot of people who aren't extremely engaged in politics, they aren't going to connect the dots so when someone criticises her opportunism that less-engaged person is gonna be like "What? She said it's bad and it has to go. I don't see why your criticising her; she's on your side, dummy."

It's also convenient because the memory of this will quickly fade and most people won't recall the exact timing, so even if there are people kicking up a stink right now it's almost guaranteed to slide into the memory hole in a matter of days or weeks. It sucks to say it and I wish that wasn't the case but that's just the reality of the situation.

A big part of me actually making this post is so that it's searchable and the info is recorded somewhat permanently.

I'm yapping again but I think this stuff is really important agitation work for us to do to push people further left and to get them to divorce with liberalism and "reformism" (or performative gestures about someone needing to do reform, which is even more dismal and exactly what's going on here).

If Kamala Harris looks set to lose and it's a foregone conclusion then if AOC makes another vague "somebody should do something" statement like "We need to abolish the electoral college", which I could absolutely imagine her doing, we can build up a casefile on her bullshit strategy of attempting to ride the wave of popular sentiment into the ~~Shite~~ White House by making statements that give people a sense of validation.

AyyyyyOC-big The state is doing what the rank and file innocent death row inmates are asking for.

[-] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 44 points 5 days ago

she could have at least mention that the dems dropping the abolition of the death penalty was wrong, but i guess having morals is hard

[-] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 30 points 5 days ago

Goddam I can't stand her. Holy shit. She's such a grifter.

[-] frauddogg@hexbear.net 24 points 4 days ago

If there's anyone I'm aching to watch catch an L at this point, it's that faker-than-bodega-gucci fuckin wind-up toy. There is nobody I hold in higher contempt than the lying hypocrite who tells you that the only way they can change the system is from inside-- but then once they're in, they show their true colors and make themselves comfortable. She was always the same kinds of leech that every other Democrat is; people just bought her fake-ass backstory long enough for it to pay off.

[-] Sulvor@hexbear.net 31 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Obviously under all of the structures currently in place in America, I do not think the state should have the right to execute people. But in an ideal world, I can think of plenty of people I would put on the wall.

(I am the one true leftist)

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 25 points 5 days ago

Alternate Universe Honest AOC

We must abolish the death penalty. Like and subscribe and vote! lmao.

[-] asg101@hexbear.net 31 points 5 days ago

As always, talk is cheap.

[-] FungiDebord@hexbear.net 28 points 5 days ago

Come on lol

[-] anarcho_blinkenist@hexbear.net 17 points 5 days ago

supply-side progressive

[-] bigbrowncommie69@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago

She could rally people against the genocide her country is committing too. But nah, can't do that. Need that AIPAC money.
