If libraries didn't exist, and someone tried to invent them, I am confident that conservatives would fight them tooth and nail with a thousand bad reasons.
You say this like they aren't doing it already, filing complaints against hundreds of books at a time that none of them have read
Just mention that Benjamin Franklin invented libraries, and they might shut up.

One of the favorite and often mis-quoted lines for right-wingers. The context here is kind of funny, since it's basically pro-taxation.
I do like misquoting it though to promote privacy, but that has nothing to do with the actual context of the quote.
