As state legislatures across America proliferate anti-transgender legislation, a growing crisis is unveiling itself. Transgender individuals and their loved ones are increasingly criminalized by their home states and their care, banned. This is prompting a growing number to seek refuge elsewhere. The scale of this issue remained under wraps until a recent Data For Progress survey brought to light the unsettling reality: hundreds of thousands of transgender people have already left their home states, and more than a million are considering a similar course of action in the coming months. These transgender individuals, frequently accompanied by their families, often sacrifice their jobs and relinquish their stability to reach the sanctuary of states willing to facilitate their care and protect them under the law. Should this trend persist, we may witness the largest domestic migration crisis since the Dust Bowl upheaval of the 1940s.

I am going to be spending next week with family members who are very vocal about their feelings on the transgender community. Where/how can find resources to educate myself? I know the topic will come up and I would like prepare myself somewhat.

Hello,

tbh, i hate youtube and its right wing algorithm with the fullest of my heart. I know there are probably many great trans / queer / feminist youtube channels, but i even hate visiting the startpage or looking at the sidebar.

(And yes, i know it can be disabled, but stil...)

tldr: does any of you have great peertube channels? with kind of regular content?

Exploring Transgender Law and Politics Catharine A. MacKinnon

For the first time in over thirty years, it makes sense to me to reconsider what feminism means. Trans people have been illuminating sex and gender in new and insightful ways. And for some time, escalating since 2004 with the proposed revisions in the UK Gender Recognition Act,[1] a substantial cohort of self-identified feminists have opposed trans peoples’ existence as trans.[2] Male power, which seldom takes seriously anything feminists say, has weaponized the feminist critique against trans people in both the US and the UK.[3] In the process, many issues central to the status of the sexes have been newly opened or sharpened; many are unresolved. I hope to learn from our discussion. My thoughts are provisional and could be subtitled “what I’ve learned so far.”

Mon avis sur le roman "La réfugiée" (the wrong end of the telescope).
