"I'll put it like this. If Elon Musk called me and said, 'Hey, let's go to space,' I'd probably consider going and probably would go because he's got the resources," Bloom said.

Appeal of GNOME DE? (hexbear.net)

Not sure if this is the right comm to ask in, but I have been hearing people praise GNOME lately, which contradicts my prior experience with GNOME in live environments a few years ago.

I'd like to ask, what is the appeal of this DE compared to KDE?

The decision about Israel-related citations, made last week, means that one of the most prominent and longstanding Jewish advocacy groups in the United States — and one historically seen as the leading U.S. authority on antisemitism — is now grouped together with the National Inquirer, Newsmax, and Occupy Democrats as a source of propaganda or misinformation in the eyes of the online encyclopedia.

Moreover, in a near consensus, dozens of Wikipedia editors involved in the discussion said they believe the ADL should not be cited for factual information on antisemitism as well because it acts primarily as a pro-Israel organization and tends to label legitimate criticism of Israel as antisemitism.

“ADL no longer appears to adhere to a serious, mainstream and intellectually cogent definition of antisemitism, but has instead given into the shameless politicization of the very subject that it was originally esteemed for being reliable on,” wrote an editor known as Iskandar323, whose request for a discussion about the ADL ultimately led to the ban.

Wikipedia is now Hamas.

Neat to see the emergence of another major CPU architecture. I guess the main benefit of RISC-V is that any company can make a RISC-V chip if they want. Note that this doesn't mean their chip design is open source or anything; it just means whatever silicon they design implements the RISC-V instruction set.

Looking for a matching set (brand/aesthetic wise) of a mechanical keyboard and mouse for gaming that:

  • Isn't super tacky or coated in branding

  • Has a detachable usb c cable (sick of mini-usb and I will never be okay with a fixed cable on a keyboard)

  • Has build quality that's actually halfway decent

  • Isn't ludicrously expensive

  • Is compatible with something like Artemis RGB or Aurora RGB for aRGB game integration (my little crow brain likes when the blinky gamer lights change colors when I reload and stuff in games)

I don't know if I'm just bad at researching this sort of thing but it really seems like all the options out there only meet one or two of these requirements at best. Is this just the state of the market when it comes to these things? Do I need to build a custom keyboard?

Do any of you have experience with community mesh networking? It seems like a fun time and a good way to connect with people (socially and technically lol) in the community. Not to mention the possibility of providing at least limited internet access to people who can't access it by conventional means for whatever reason. A community mesh network might also have organizing possibilities - especially because the state or the cops or a company can't just shut it off or look inside it as easily

I'm working with a business to sort out all their Facebook and Instagram pages, and try get them all grouped under one Business account.

They're a musical instrument importer who have a bunch of pages that have been created by different people over the years and they've had trouble migrating them all into once place where they can see everything.

They have access to all the pages and Instagram profiles, but some are through a company profile they created, some through the personal profile of a guy that works there, and some other loose accounts.

They've sent requests from the controlling profiles to the account they want to have access to all the page, but the requests are sitting pending in the blackhole of Meta's backend.

They've sent requests, tried to get in touch with support, and even sent over documents proving the existence of the business to Facebook, but nothing happens.

All the help articles that are the first results wherever you search aren't useful either. They don't reflect the messy nature of Facebook tinkering with everything and the reality of trying to share access to pages that have existed since 2007.

I'd love to hear if you've had any experience with this. If I can get this sorted out it should mean more work for me down the line with them.
