I have been listening to more books than I have been reading these days and I want to be able to add them properly on my book tracker.

Is there some unique identifier for an audiobook? I guess the ISBN of the book will tell me the exact words of the edition but the same words with another cover have a different ISBN and the same ISBN is used for to different narrator.

What do you know about this topic? Thank you in advance.

I definitely do not want to support this practice, but there's no way to filter these out 😠.

I am thrilled to say that Soundbooth Theater has come through!

Dungeon in the Clouds offers 16+ hours of witty humor, engaging characters, and quality Dungeon Core action. Produced by the talented folks over at Soundbooth Theater with co-narration by Justin Thomas James and Dorrie Sacks, and cameo appearances from Annie Ellicott and Jeff Hays.

Here's the blurb!

When Kers is reborn as a dungeon core, he finds himself stuck in the most improbable of places: a cloud. High in the sky and far away from the usual solid resources, Kers must face the obvious question; how is a dungeon to build itself without wood or stone?

Luckily, Kers has the sarcastic (and sometimes helpful) fairy Selena to help him get his bearings. Together, the pair delight in exploring Kers’ weird existence, creating novel mobs, and enticing adventures to plumb the lofty heights of his floors.

After all, with vicious - yet fluffy - snow leopards, infuriating pink slimes and some sharks with freakin' energy beams – what’s not to love? Everything seems to be falling into place.

That is, until the other dungeons – each with their own unique resources and machinations – also take an interest in Kers. He soon finds himself with strange new friends… and dangerous new foes.

After all, the Adventures Guild does not take kindly to ‘irregular’ dungeons…

Forced to fight, Kers must use every advantage his unique situation grants him if he, and his new family, are to survive this second chance at life.

A Guy Walks into My Bar Audiobook recommendation.

Before I start, this is an M/M romance.

One of the most wonderful British male narrators I’ve ever heard. His name is Shane east. I don’t know his ethnicity, but I was immediately swept up by him reading of one of the characters. This audiobook is a duet narration. This means that multiple readers are reading the dialogue of characters. It is not an audio drama or a full cast recording but I just love the male British narrator Shane East https://www.audible.com/pd/B08BTLV158?source_code=ASSORAP0511160006&share_location=pdp

Audiobooks at their heart (at least in the form of "talking books") were made with accessibility in mind after all. Pretty much every new book that comes out is recorded as an Audiobook in some fashion as well. Audible exclusives always felt quite scummy for that reason alone, as it is restricting what is at it's heart an accessible media format.

I'm very curious if it's mainstream popularity though has led to more blind/visually impaired people being able to consume more books than before. It would be really cool if it has or has at least loosened that barrier a bit more!

Sharing audiobooks with duet narration

The below post explains the difference between duet narration and other kinds of narration, as well as provides some good examples to try.

I've heard people say so before about a few different books across different social media platforms I've used, but I wanted to know some peoples opinions here

I’m rereading the entire trilogy in order in preparation for the new Disney show. I was worried it wouldn’t be as good as an adult but it’s honestly… dare I say… better as an adult

Don't know how many folks have heard about Libby, but I've used it for a couple years now.

Libby let's you browse your local library's digital catalogue, including all of their audio books. Books can be borrowed for up to 3 weeks, with the option to extend it a sling as there's no one waiting for it. Works on Apple, Android, and in your browser. Best of all, it's all free! I dumped Audible for it and haven't looked back.

Awesome things about libro that I like

  • No DRM. You can download the books as you please and store them outside the app!
  • Credits don't expire, and can be gifted.
  • You can support your local bookstore if they are on the app.
  • There's also occasional free audiobooks that the libro.fm drops. For Juneteenth there was a few that they gave out for free.
