Sure, but it's a good question that should be taken seriously, because it matters. It matters when people don't actually care. It's hard for normal people with hearts and souls to imagine. That's why we invented devils and demon possession in the past.

To say they don't give a shit, is to answer your question. It's called sociopathy. It's a plague among the Epstein class and those who would want to be a part of it.

You think they give a shit? They buy the bullshit that this is endangering their children. That there's social contagion and theirs could be next, and it also means their kid might be going to hell etc.

Unfortunately, changing hearts and minds is complicated. But it's the only way we get to a world of empathy toward those of us who are different.

If the technology was energy efficient that'd be one thing, but we're accelerating climate change and poisoning the planet in order to automate what are in many cases creative or intellectual jobs, not hard labor, and society isn't even seeing any gains from it. Cost of living is higher than ever, and social programs are being cut like crazy.

When efficient "AI" models run locally and solve specific tasks without insane energy use, that'll be different. That's probably coming, once the bubble bursts. But the bubble isn't going to take the people who created it down with them, as usual.

Sure, but did those jobs go to those who lost theirs? And as others have pointed out, not always and forever. Just logically speaking a lot of automation at best will "free" people to pursue other things, and so could boost creativity and innovation... But people need freedom and financial security for that to be possible.

In short, I'm shilling for UBI, guaranteed minimum income and other socialist programmed to spread the value gain from technology back into the community.
