Our current leadership are a bunch of muppets.

They're not even putting existing roads first for safety and active modes improvements. Instead, they want to build more "roads of national significance" or basically big expensive motorways. Better rural connections are needed but there are bigger priorities for the economy that would actually support and encourage growth.

And risk the liability when the AI bubble bursts? Microsoft trying to charge customers the actual costs of CoPilot are not going well.

AI companies need to pay for their emissions, subsidize power costs in communities affected by data cents, and just generally be made to shoulder the true costs of what they're doing. When they pass this on to customers usage will plummet.

Quite a massive reduction in poverty, it seems.

Not a perfect system, but imagine what $14 billion could do for the poorest Americans. Or however much the US has already spent on the war on Iran.

You're aware 3-4 feet tall humans who can't swim exist yeah?

Yep, all different variations of some kind of judicial system with courts of law and such.

Social norms are why social order is possible sure. But how do you account for the uncooperative minority?

You've forgotten the context of the question. Those institutions don't maintain social order. They are maintained by social order.

With the rarity of such attacks on US soil by Ukraine, even though it could be argued that it was an accident, the right thing to do is apologize unequivocally if it's real. Do something to make amends somehow, as best as possible.

We can call Putin a hypocrite and he surely is with many orders of magnitude more innocent blood on his hands. But there's still no excuse for attacking civilian targets on any side, whether it's one dormitory or basically everything in Gaza. It's murder, or it is manslaughter. Nothing else.

Such as?

I can't think of a better institution than rule of law. The problem is all institutions rely on people to uphold them. Particularly, those in the positions of most power. Not just those with the guns.

Sure, but what else is there?

I'm not clever enough to do anything but let the meme speak for itself.

Someone glorious on Lemmy made this for me a while back, and it seems to be becoming more and more apt. Enjoy.
