Understandable, I was hoping for old people fist fighting in a ring.

Side note: how come it's called a boxing ring when they're always square?

"Box Elder" is a type of tree, the county is named after it

20 years ago, the town I grew up in used to do this to catch speeders. Undercover cops would pose as utility workers, sometimes up in cherry pickers pretending to work on power lines. Other times they would pretend to be unhoused people with shopping carts. They would have radar guns and radio to marked police cars to pull over speeders. They got sued for it, but it didn't stop them. What they did finally get successfully sued for was using unmarked cop cars to speed up behind drivers, until the driver sped up enough to go over the limit. Then the undercover car would radio a regular marked cop car who would pull over the entrapped speeder. The only reason they got caught was because the cops were bragging about it so much. As far as I remember, no one was ever held to account, the department just had to pinky swear they wouldn't do it anymore. Anyway, ACAB etc etc

I keep thinking on the quip about the democratic platform being the exact same as the republicans but just a few years delayed. Hard to imagine the Harris administration wouldn't have hit this benchmark regardless, the way things have been trending. It just wouldn't have been loudly announced ahead of time as a goal to work towards

the laborer is the victim of that process, not the beneficiary. the capitalist who inserts themselves between the laborer and the provisioning of their necessities is the king of the assholes

The American economy from the perspective of the worker is like that one long shot in Goodfellas when Ray Liotta is just handing out 20s to every person he sees between the door and his table, but in reverse. You draw your paycheck and suddenly a million porky-happy line up to take it from you

Idk about Poppy, but Dubya was lambasted by libs for taking too much time off during times of particular crisis. More than you'd expect, he spent the time he wasn't golfing on "clearing brush" at his ranch for some reason. Conservatives kind of embraced it as a manly thing and defended him taking time off to pretend to work on his ranch

Shoot first, then don't bother asking any questions

Why are they so concerned? It was completely appropriate when the US seized the gold reserves of Afghanistan, Venezuela, and Russia right? The rules based international order had no problems with it, a precedent has been set already!
