Insulin is the exception to the rule here. Where you're doing multiple SC injections per day depending on what your blood sugar looks like, it's more hassle to use perfectly proper technique than it is to just use the same needle twice.

If you have to use the same needle to draw and inject, 23 ga is as small as you can get without drawing the oil up becoming almost impossible. Standard practice for injections of drugs in oil is to use an 18 ga draw needle and then whatever size injection needle you like. The stopper is made to withstand multiple punctures (dozens) from an 18 ga needle without any issue.

Please use a separate draw needle and injection needle! It makes the whole process easier for you and it's safer, too.

Haven't braided hair since I was in primary school (and never had the hair to get braided until now), it's really nice!

I don't think we're actually going to recapitulate all the prior theories of illness leading up to germ theory, the reality of having the prosperity gospel guiding public health policy in the US is far worse. All this for what? What's even going to be left to rule over? I don't know that anyone's even thought that far ahead, all the clear-eyed ghouls who were pulling the levers of power are gone and the slapdicks who replaced them all seem to sincerely believe the shit they're peddling. I don't think they understand that the infinite variety of contagious diseases we're letting run rampant don't care how rich you are, or how many precautions you take that you won't let the masses have access to. Like the IRA told Margaret Thatcher: we only have to get lucky once, you have to get lucky every time. Plagues don't discriminate. Will it fuel pogroms? Sure, but it doesn't keep the instigators of those pogroms from dying agonizing, preventable deaths.

I don't know if miasma theory is completely off the tables, actually. I could see libs adopting it as some kind of counterproductive attempt to triangulate some kind of public health policy while ceding material reality to the fascists, that's their whole thing. Why organize effective resistance when you can fight battles already won and lost while chuckling at how clever you are?

We're really going full speed ahead with the germ theory denialism, aren't we? I look forward to the spirited debates about whether miasma theory is true or whether the oppressive smell from untreated sewage collecting everywhere is actually good for you.

It's not even eugenics at this point, eugenicists had a coherent ideology, albeit one that needs to be destroyed. This is a reaction against the notion of public health, against the idea that social determinants of health exist, that health is anything but a consequence of an individual's choices as a consumer and their personal virtue. Anyone who dies from an easily preventable disease deserves it for not being a rugged enough individualist.

Any intervention on a scale larger than whatever some crank on social media is selling is basically communism and must be destroyed. This is an ideology that can only take root in people who have been the benificiaries of hundreds of years of millions of people's labor spent so they would have the privilege of not seeing infant and childhood mortality rates at pre-modern levels. It's pro-suffering for the sake of suffering.

Eugenics is tragedy, this is farce. A humane society would put people who sincerely believe this shit to work doing disease eradication. Let them go down to the countryside and live with the people their idealism is killing.

I popped in the target range (shaded box) and typical levels over the course of a menstrual cycle and yes, it is a little bit on the low side of the target range. 2 patches gets you into the target range.

This is already a known issue with assisted reproduction, the number of Musklets is probably into three figures by now. If he's paying women to be surrogates somehow this makes him less unethical than most of the guys who do this.

He could also have a deal with one of the numerous unregulated sperm banks out there (for real it's a libertarian fantasyland) to be the sole source for the $50 discount straw specials they run. If that's the case the number could easily be into the thousands. Utterly horrifying to contemplate.

MS-13² coming soon, what could go wrong?

This wound up being a bit of an effortpost to get buried this deep in the conversation. So it goes.

The synthesis isn't difficult for a reasonably qualified synthetic chemist. Access to propionic anhydride was always the limiting step - before the explosion in sources for chemical precursors of all kinds the only way to reliably get it would have the DEA on your ass very quickly. There has been gray/black domestic production of fentanyl as long as there's been fentanyl but never on an industrial scale until the last decade or so.

The actual precursors are by and large being manufactured in other countries (China and India are the biggest producers) and the final synthesis can take place anywhere. Mexican drug trafficking organizations got a crash course in organic chemistry after the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act in 2005 led to the collapse of almost all domestic methamphetamine manufacture. They have the benefit of 20 years' experience in organic synthesis supplying meth for the North American market that translates very well to making fetty.

As far as I know most illicit fentanyl production for the usamerican market occurs in Mexico, but this is simply a matter of convenience. A handful of guys in the LA area produce more or less the entire usamerican supply of PCP. There's absolutely no reason if material conditions demand the production move across the border for it not to move across the border.

I don't know if it was here on hexbear or somewhere else on the internet that I read a comment that the United States has been waging an opium war against itself for 80 years. The nexus between hard-right groups, intelligence organizations, organized crime, and the networks of illicit drug manufacture and distribution is old and runs deep. The fentanyl will continue to flow, manufactured wherever conditions are best for its production.

The real question is, how do you raise your kids so they don't turn into the next Pete Buttigieg?
