This sucks man. Without even touching on the world historical travesty of US support for the Israeli genocide in Palestine, the things that have been fucking me up in the past few weeks are the strikes on Yemeni civilian leadership, killing 31 journalists in Sanaa, Yemen, bombing the Hamas negotiating team in Doha, Qatar, and the bombing of random boats allegedly coming out of Venezuela. It's like, okay bro, international law and constitutional protections are a joke, but are you even pretending that you don't reserve the right to blow me up when you feel like it?
They say Hexbear has the best gun-knowers!
Heh I just saw this, yeah 1.004M needed indeed. I think that is an HOI4 mod? The days when a game could latch me in feel passed but that does look fun.
No or at least I hope not, I'm referring to discussions I've seen on the unaffiliated SRA subreddit wherein people do sometimes suggest it as a practical purchase. They usually get talked down but there are a few defenders. I haven't checked in there regularly in several years so I couldn't say how that has changed. It is mostly a meme. Also back in the late 90s through possibly the early 00s they could be had very inexpensively often bundled with cleaning kits and ammo, so there was at least some rationale.
NATOpedia lists 7.62x54R as entering service in 1891, so that doesn't sound too far fetched.
Idk what NY state politics are like but she seems famous and well-liked enough to perhaps become senator? But a presidential run, yeah no that is going to be a blood bath (hopefully not literally but also maybe) and I feel like dems fumbled too hard disciplining their own constituents in 2024 (and 2020, and 2016...) to seem authentic (LMAO) as a party running her.
Yeah the image didn't have any context and it was in a Yemen solidarity post. I assume these are mobilized people's defense units of some sort and pretty low on the priority list for getting fresh arms. It is still a cool pic and people kind of meme on the Mosin so I thought to share. Someone in the news mega posted a nakedcapitalism article about Colombia threatening to move away from US-supplied armaments, I don't know much more than what I learn here but it'll be interesting to see how that shakes out.
Truly awful stuff. The anti-ICE actions back in June included protests, yes, but also were uprisings by a community defending itself from an occupying force.
Edit: I wrote then deleted this part, but what I said was:
Recently near me ICE snatched up a man right after he dropped his kids off at school, then a few days later while people were still protesting they swooped back in and snatched some day laborers in the same neighborhood. And that this is hardly identifying information to be because our gestapo operates so widely!
These kind of high-handed tactics only work against a passive population, and both the spontaneous & organized resistance is successful in preventing ICE from doing what they're trying to do.
That's rad, I don't think I've seen anything like this.
For booba on currency a great one is the Libertad minted by Banco de Mexico
This happened on the 18th of September, it was posted here when it happened before details were known so I wanted to share it a little. No spoiler but CW for stalking and description of the shooting.
Deadly York County shootout that left three officers and suspect dead | Motive, how it happened
Authorities release names of 3 police officers killed in Pennsylvania shooting: Updates
The shooter was stalking a young woman who he briefly dated, went to the farm where her and her mother lived, and was waiting in ambush. They had put up a trail cam because the daughter's truck had been set on fire last month and they suspected the man, who had never been to the farm or invited there previously. They spotted him on the trail cam so they left and called the police.
The cops got there and swept the area and the surrounding fields with a drone, saw the house was unlocked so four of them went in and were immediately ambushed, leaving 3 dead and 1 wounded. The shooter fired at two sheriff's deputies in the street from the house, wounding one, then it sounds like he advanced on them and died in a shootout.
Guy definitely would've killed the woman and her mom if they'd been home or returned first. Guy killed dog in the basement.
This was all pretty depressing IMO. The district attorney correctly said this was caused by the scourge of domestic violence. Attorney general Pam Bondi called it an attack on our law enforcement, which whatever, fash is gonna fash. At the press conference Gov. Josh Shapiro said something about doing better for mental health for people who think picking up a gun is the answer - that bit really stuck in my craw. This is a typical line from politicians who don't want to grapple with gun violence, it is weasely in general but applying it to a DV situation was upsetting to me.
Also, spoiler because this sounds like

one jerkoff with a long gun inflicted 100% casualties on an assault team comprised of four veteran law enforcement officers, and 50% casualties on a two man security team.
