apparently you can replace a file in the r4 cart and it removes it completely. what type of r4 card do you have, exactly?
edit: the file to replace is actually the kernel. most flashcarts have a "timebomb" that could actually kill your console or your cart, delete roms and shit in your sd card and other nefarious things. generally not recommended to set your date to the ancient times as it'd fuck up stuff like pokemon or other games that can use your date and time
there are fanmade kernels like wood r4 or ysmenu or whatever
