I did a fresh install of 11 recently and it took heckin forever after restrating like twice and doing lots of "setup"

It was a great processor and on a decent ssd, so i do think they've just increased how long the setup takes

Tbh this is the idea that when first introduced to me, i thought NFTs were for. Then i found out they were... Not that, lol

surely Edgerunners isn't fair to count toward that? That was already in the works before launch, it's not as though they had a bad launch and thought "wow we should do an animated series to repair reputation"

I have a really hard time absorbing people speaking when i'm not interacting with them, and being understimulated and not knowing what to do with my hands when i am able to focus on audiobooks. I want to love them and podcasts, but they just aren't it for me D:

I'm glad they work so well for you and others, though!!

Hi all!

I've been dual-booting windows and linux mint for a while now. I'm mostly being held back by just a few things preventing me from switching to only linux, though. One thing in particular is I'm running a small new business for printing art and photos, and we use the proprietary Canon Professional Print & Layout software to set up all sorts of custom layouts.

It's nice because it's quite purpose-built for choosing different papers, has really nice control over margins, sizing, and placement, and integrates nicely with our printer. It also gives tools for professional colour management, as well as soft-proofing in client.

Do any of you have experience with native linux software that works similarly to this? Is this type of functionality one of the things that GIMP can cover? (I tried years ago to learn how to tackle GIMP but I simply did not click with it, though I'd be willing to give it another shot if there isn't a better choice)

Also, I think CUPS can contact my printer on the network, but i am worried that i might lose some functionality without the proprietary drivers? Like HDR/high bit-depth colour or something.

If any of you have experience or tips on this, I'd really appreciate it!

yeah, this really took me out of reading for a long time. Just base-level "reading" where you kind of process the words as an activity, without actually absorbing anything.

started medication recently, and hope that it'll help with this. i miss reading ;.;

yeah, this feels like a big heckin deal??

hopefully we can get this elsewhere, too

which feels like it might be easier if companies are already complying with this

This would be easier if more hardware was easier to put custom OSs on. For example, my phone is dumb and doesn't have an unlockable bootloader, so i'm stuck with android forever on it. For devices you can actually work on, lineage and graphene are cool projects that i'd love to see embrace the sort of holistic experience you're talking about~

This week's bake! (lemmy.sdf.org)

Did them both in dutch ovens, mostly followed King Arthur's "Naturally Leavened Sourdough" recipe with some extra water. I didn't slash them very well, but they still rose quite nicely~
