Debian 12 is incredibly solid with a relatively current Gnome 43. I like that it is ran by a community instead of big corpa and I can install Flatpaks.
I haven't touched Ubuntu for years, but I bet it's still popular with new linux users and there are probably plenty other people who don't care about the snap issues.
Yeah I'm pretty sure this has been in debian for a while now
I've been on Debian 12 for almost a year. It's rock solid and its Gnome is on version 43, which is current enough. I've been watching reviews of 45 and 46 and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. I installed Flatpak to get current apps and it works flawlessly. I'm expecting Debian 13 to come out sometime around Summer 2025, which doesn't feel too far away given my satisfaction with Debian 12.
Perhaps we need a new name for this flu
