This paint is worth a lot. They should sell it. Apparently developed by them. Zero publications. How is it wired is the big question.

VW electric sales are up 47% in Europe this year. ICE car demand down to flat, though not sure about VW specific.

"Open weight models are good (kind of)" is still up here https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/remarks-by-chair-lina-m-khan-at-y-combinator.pdf

The objectively best part about them is scaling them small enough to run privately. The problem with AI as a "National Security" strategy is that it is a Skynet datacenter strategy. The reason to remove government content that it is ok for you to use AI for your purposes is that Skynet won't be able to control you. The motivation for all of the datacenter investments is that the US government will buy all of the datacenter time to ensure Israel's rule over the US.

Had no idea Antarctica had this little land. A lot of flow paths for melt to the ocean. Greenland on the other hand, can have much of its galcier melt into inland lake.

So uhm, copilot just told us not to use these new copilot features.

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (4 children)

I asked copilot...

How would Microsoft loyalty to US or other government's national security possibly compromise a user's PC if that user gives copilot permission to operate their PC?

How national-security or law-enforcement demands could lead to compromise

  • Compelled access to data Microsoft controls — If Microsoft stores or indexes any of your Copilot data in the cloud, Microsoft can be required by lawful process to produce that data to U.S. or other governments with legal jurisdiction.
  • Compelled changes to services — Governments can issue orders that require providers to change logging, enable access, or install monitoring in ways that may be secret or accompanied by gag orders.
  • Access to telemetry and diagnostics — Diagnostic or telemetry data that Copilot or Windows collects can include evidence of your activity and may be producible under legal request.
  • Local features that capture content — Features designed to assist (for example, an automated “Recall” that snapshots screens) create local records of sensitive material that increase exposure risk if accessed by an authorized party.
  • Remote-control or agent capabilities — If Copilot is granted elevated permissions (input control, script execution, system configuration), those same capabilities could be exercised under legal compulsion or via back-end access mechanisms.
  • Software updates and maintenance — Lawful orders can compel vendors to ship updates or config changes that alter how a product behaves, increasing access to user systems.

Practical ways those legal obligations could manifest on your PC

  • Production of synced or cloud-stored Copilot logs, prompts, or screenshots to authorities.
  • Microsoft being required to provide live access or historical logs from back-end services that the Copilot agent uses.
  • A secret court order or national security letter forcing Microsoft to enable additional logging, monitoring, or remote access for a targeted account or device.
  • Disclosure of keys, tokens, or server-side records that tie on-device events to your identity.

Why elevated permissions matter

  • Read access to files and memory lets an agent capture documents, credentials, or keys.
  • Input/automation control enables actions on your behalf (open files, send messages, change settings).
  • Persistence (services/agents) makes it easier for any compelled access to be effective and harder for you to detect or disable.

Risk-reduction steps you can take now

  • Limit permissions: Grant only the minimal Copilot privileges needed; avoid giving input control, admin rights, or system-level automation.
  • Disable features that capture content: Turn off any screen-snapshot or automatic indexing/Recall-like features if you don’t need them.
  • Avoid cloud syncing for sensitive data: Keep sensitive files off services that sync or index them in the cloud.
  • Prefer on-device-only models: Use local-only AI modes when available so prompts and context do not leave your machine.
  • Use full-disk and file-level encryption with keys you control; avoid storing keys where the vendor could be compelled to retrieve them.
  • Harden account security: Use strong, unique passwords and MFA on accounts tied to Copilot or Microsoft services.
  • Audit logs and telemetry: Review and reduce diagnostic/telemetry settings; regularly review logs for unexpected activity.
  • Segmentation: Use a separate machine or VM for highly sensitive work so a general-purpose Copilot-enabled device doesn’t hold those secrets.
  • Legal & contractual protections: For high-risk contexts, seek contractual commitments, data residency options, or legal counsel about how a vendor handles lawful demands.

Quick practical checklist

  • Turn off automatic screenshot/Recall features.
  • Remove admin permissions from Copilot agent.
  • Keep sensitive work on a non-synced, encrypted volume.
  • Use local-only AI options where offered.
  • Enable and monitor endpoint and network logging for unusual remote access.

Short conclusion Allowing Copilot to operate your PC raises the surface where lawful government demands or compelled actions could expose data or enable access. The likelihood and scope depend on which features you enable (especially cloud sync, screen capture, and elevated permissions) and the legal jurisdiction over the vendor or the data. Minimize permissions, disable content-capture features, and isolate truly sensitive workflows to reduce exposure.

There is a systemic gender advantage of opposite gender wanting to be your friend more than the other way around.

I don't know what the manosphere is. PUA/Andrew Tate try to elevate men's self esteem. Whether denying men's insecurities is targetting them is grey area. Incels as a defeated group moaning to each other about defeat, get piled on with a lot of supremacist hate, mostly from women/women's groups.

Where is the "bully like" fashion? It can't be "acting like a role model".

Chritofascists, who primarily serve Zionist supremacist establishment, or Feminazis, lie to their audience, but aren't bullying their adherents. They are boosting their "deserved supremacism" by diminishing the rights/humanity of their "inferior" enemies. Supremacists sell "you too can have my advantages if you join us". It can be wrong without it being classified as bullying.

Even if you normalize the supremacist right to diminish Russia, and the usefulness of pig vermin nazis paid to destroy Ukraine to engage in your supremacist vision, such idiocy is entirely and purely for selling out Europe to US dominance. Origins of war were about nordstream, and EU energy capture, even as EU did good job transitioning away from extortionist energy. The CIA stooge NATO members have as only purpose to deliver US miltiary subservience.

Even for demonic supremacists, as their unquestionable nature, whether Russia can be diminished instead of strengthened should be a key decision factor. Certainly more terrorism inside Russia is more Russia diminishment, but it's only hatred of Ukrainians that justify it, and hatred of low European Sievert counts to justify Tomahawks. Supremacists lose wars when they overestimate their supremacism, believe their lies, and pretend their lies have any influence on the enemies they hate. While west just kept lying as a strategy, Russia increased military production 30%+ per year.

Even if you want Russia to do as poorly as the US has made NATO members do poorly, the best strategy is to force it to transition to a peacetime economy.

weird take. There's certainly a feminist supremacist sphere active in demonizing and diminishing "less attractive" men, and women, feminist or not, have always enjoyed the privilege of men seeking their friendship with more passion than other way around. Friendly women of low attractiveness levels have more opportunities to have their sexuality validated.

This is just a supremacist take on demonizing men further.

CIA stooges look out for each other.

security can either be equal and undivisible for all or not for anyone.

preceded by genocidal Israel supremacist attacks on all the countries in middle east this week, but then followed by all of the pure demonism of NATO in last 25 years.

It's a good quote, but it needs the direct explanation that US unipolar security is simply unipolar fascism for obtaining US mafia tributes, that is the general justification that a state monopoly on violence can in theory provide equal protection to all, instead of ancap mafia/militias to subjugate those who don't pay for their protection.

world should not absolve those protecting WW2 Nazi scum from Ukraine, Baltics or Canada.

This is somehow controversial due to west's core nazi ideology (little to nothing to do with jews) of Stalin Derangement Syndrome.

continous CIA coups in Venezuela definitely support Narco gangs, from Guaido (Trump's last term coup) to last year's paid protests.

Columbia, despite extreme sycophancy to US exceeded only by Panama, with participation in immigrant relocation program, and belt and road walkback, was "decertified" last week as a "US partner in drug enforcement".

Just as Trump told GOP last year to not support immigration reform legislation, everything is about making America a bigger shithole so that the base gets angrier at what a shithole it is. If you want less drugs, helping countries stop drugs is obvious. If you want less immigrants, making global south prosperous is what will keep them there.

recognition of Palestinian state rewards terrorism.

Not recognizing it rewards genocide. The extermination of speech in America that allows favouring Palestine/humanity is extermination of the wrong side of speech.

Rest of her speech extremely embarrassing.

Next UN general secretary should include wearing a skirt as voting criteria.

Unipolarism = full subservience to US fascism in all of its demonic values other than Palestine and human sustainability is an absolute necessity because war on Russia and China will make us all rich, presumably. NATO colony subservience somehow pretending to be equal partners in the unipolar fascism is just subhuman piece of shit gaslighting of Trump criticism while pledging slavery of EU.

After Zelensky meeting Trump said Ukraine can win all of its nazi territory control objectives if only Europe gives the US all of its money for weapons gifts to Ukraine.

Globalists

This code for same genocidal speech as replacement theory. Immigrants of non Zionazi conforming religions and any children they have is simply an act of war on zionazi first christofascist rule. The "globalists" hate you because they don't love genociding these scum as much as the "real indigenous" people.

Conflating "globalist energy", and lying that it is expensive and unworkable (wouldn't be used if true), is simply demonism propaganda made purely to subjugate EU to dead ender climate terrorist US energy supply. Launching a nuclear strike on DC would be a more appropriate response than the guarded sycophancy from colonies that will mostly continue, though to their credit, there hasn't yet been any news on EU demonic shifts in their energy policy.

EU fascist control of "permitted political parties" gets harder the more explicitly traitorous for demonic suicide against Russia, the CIA stooges are, instead of facing EU's real enemy.

Amazon.ca prices seem to have gone up on Taiwan products even when Canada has no tariffs on them. Coffee too.

Whether Apple is making phones for US customers in India, China, or Taiwan, tariffs are applied to them for US customers. Tim Cook said US prices are not affected by tariffs. That means our prices are used to subsidize US customers.

It's a little bit normal, historically, for Canadian prices to be a bit higher to deal with currency volatility without changing prices. But 20% US tariffs on Taiwan, with 50% on China and India, would normally result in at least a 20% discount for Canada.

Government inquiry followed by fine is ok. Forcing Apple to immediately normalize prices would be far more effective pressure overall on US trade policy.

$46B investment undermined by Ontario/Ford energy policy that was always meant to sabbotage EVs, and no EV production yet. This is an absurdly high subsidy level, and the 157k jobs is entire auto industry. Ford should go back to right wing shilling that you don’t want a better car that EVs provide.

Ford would need to outline what automakers have committed to producing EVs or batteries by when. There has only been backtracking on investment so far, afaik.

"If the federal government removes its tariffs against Chinese-made EVs, you will contradict and undermine months of engagement with U.S. officials and lawmakers about the need to protect and enhance our highly integrated cross-border automotive supply chains

While I/we may not be aware of any secret auto sector deals/commitments, I know there has been zero progress on “protecting our auto sector integration”.

ONLY a trade deal with China will get the US to “progress” on its extortionist demonism, and get our other “allies” to invest in Canada as well.

Whether dressed up as a Canola farmer giveaway, Ford needs to champion auto workers instead of US sycophancy, and gaslighting on trade progress. Pig fucker needs to beg for Chinese investment in Ontario’s workforce, or provide investment deals from any other country at all, if he’s claiming progress is right around the corner, and this is the nudge to progress. Gaslighting that doing nothing will still make everything turn out alright, has to end.

Canada is world’s 7th largest auto market tied with UK. This is in overpriced vehicles, not just $ size. If other countries want a slice of it, they need to pay up. It’s not a matter of pretending US aligned countries are the good guys. Especially not any more.

I noticed this first on amazon.ca as prices rose when US added persecution level to Taiwan products.

How Chinese/India prices are 25% higher than US if Apple pays tariffs is hard to understand any other way.

THe stealing my shtick bit is about Fuentes vs Kirk feud, and the anti-jew stuff is channeling Fuentes instead of Kirk. Even if both Cartman and Clyde are immitating Kirk.

Maybe this episode inspired events.

On desktops, I have seen problems (not direct experience) with getting full speed from 4x64gb ram sticks. Will 5600ddr 2x64gb sodims be stable on a budget (BOSGAME 7840hs) mini pc?

For use with LLMs, I doubt the 780m can have great (usable?) performance for models that would need 128gb (with context for coding). 96gb is decent price/size value. But is 64gb simply enough for what you would practically use?

For coding AI, it could make sense to specialize models on architecture, functional/array split from loopy solutions, or just asking 4 separate small models, and then using a judge model to pick the best parts of each.
