The statement in the title is absurd, but I believe it. If we're cut off, I wouldn't be able to use mail, attend 50% of my meetings, or access any project files.

Yay! I'm on social media, being social! 😃
I joined today! I tried to post some images, but could only have one image per post. Then someone was rude, and I wasn't able to downvote him. I keep refreshing the front page, but nothing happens since there's no algorithm, the latest posts just stay there.
I think I'll stick around here in parallel to Reddit. Maybe some day I'll understand how instances and all of that works.
Should they be hated too? Why?
In what way is English not a European made international language?
That's quite a sensible regulation. You'll more often hear about what things China doesn't regulate, so I'm glad to hear of a pro-consumer law coming into effect.
The hats from the article are not the same type of hats though. They resemble the Canadian toque, I suppose, or in Norway, "lue". Similarly we would call the MAGA dome + sun shade kind of hat "caps".
If everyone agreed to move, there would be no problem (as long as the Fediverse can accomodate everyone).
There's precedent. There was a myriad of social media sites Worldwide at some point. Then in a few years everyone "agreed" to move to Facebook. There are stories of how they aggressively took over markets, but at the end of the day I supposed they had the technically best site. And after over a decade of decay, people are still stuck.
