This is a bit more political/ideological than my own thinking in this general direction, but on the whole I agree. I often think "why do you all want to own so much junk?" I've been getting more and more anti consumerist over the years, and it's become kind of a point of pride not to but things, and start at the top, at "reduce*.

Renting by itself would be fine, it's just that there's barely any rent control in North America, and you're constantly at the mercy of your landlord, inflation and general greed. Put national standards for renter protection and rent increases in place and this would be much less of a problem.

Not true anymore. You can create a reasonable voice clone with like 30 seconds of audio now (11labs for example doesn't do any kind of authentication). The results are good enough for this kind of thing, especially in a lower bandwidth situation like a phone call.

Air Canada has changed all my flights in the last three years. They are especially fond of selling me a direct flight, then canceling that one and moving me to a connecting flight with worse departure and longer travel times.

I feel the audience for this joke is pretty specific. https://tenor.com/WsvE.gif

The optimistic note of the last sentence of the abstract doesn't really survive reading the article...
