I think its simply, at least for a while, the tech space was male dominated. And depending on the type of piracy, it requires an amount of tech skills

I always see his exact photo when i see this posted. Im pretty convinced that this isnt actually how kids are dressed, otherwise the photo would once in a while be changed up

[-] TheAmishMan@lemmy.world 66 points 11 months ago

And for us on the otherside, we see people bundled up like their going on an Artic expedition when its 50F out and they are walking 10 feet from their heated car to a heated store.

Being sweaty all the time sucks. Thats really what it is

[-] TheAmishMan@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago

This, but primarily when someone is confounded by the idea that im not into sports. Ive had this happen with a few things, but sports are one of the weireder ones. I mean to the point of them going, nah you like sports, then continuing ro go on a rant about sone game.like i know im into a lot of stuff others arent, but if they sont want to talk about it, thats perfectly fine

I know theres sorta the ability to do this with swipe actions, but Id like the option to mark posts as read in the same line as the upvote/downvote/save/hide. It just would be a lot simpler especially when its things where from the title you can get the gist,.but you dont want to completely hide the article.

14

In short, I want the ability to hide news and political stories temporarily, much like you might hide nsfw articles temporarily when at work. Id like to be able to maintain all my previously made filters and communities, and still be able to scroll through "all", but just temporarily hide the news and such, just to get a break from it.

The only option i can think of is to make a second account that has those communities banned, but that wont keep my other filters synced, such as if I have blocked a new nsfw community on one account, it wont sync to the other. Id prefer it to stay on the one account. Currently I mainly broswe through Sync for Lemmy. If there was a feature to turn on a temporary filter list, much like hiding nsfw content temporarily, this would be great

I graduated pharmacy school 8 years ago. This was a thing that was taught in school. This is why you should talk to your pharmacist. Guaifenisin is another 'garbage drug' that does virtually nothing; just drink more water

[-] TheAmishMan@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago

She's not, cause she's talking. Think about putting a bottle to your mouth, especially one that isn't completely full. Someone says something to you, you want to respond, but you don't need to put the drink down because you're going right back to sipping on it. You would tilt the neck/mouthpiece away from your mouth slightly. From a straight on look, this scenario would look just like the drawing

27

As the list title says, it'd be nice to see all the posts in a specific instance, and not just for the one my account is setup with

[-] TheAmishMan@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

As a pharmacist, it's shocking how many people don't understand this

My wife was reading a book about different film and story techniques, and they talked about how sitting someone eating is used often times to make you repulsed by the person. This is the exact scene I thought about when she told me about that

Pretty much as the title says, the ability to pin or sticky pose on communities that I moderate would be really nice. At the moment I need to switch to the browser mode in order to pin or unpin posts but being able to do it straight through liftoff would be really good

In the Reddit is fun app there is a really nice tablet mode that you could do that would pretty much have a half panel for scrolling through post another half that would have the post already open so you could scroll through post and have it be full size and two panels. Getting something similar would be really cool

[-] TheAmishMan@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

Is there a simple name that is a good catch-all? Preferably one that's two syllables? Lemmy is such a simple name, much like Reddit or Twitter. Fediverse and threadiverse i feel just complicate it all
